Hi, i re installed xp a while back and the key worked fine but yesturday when i restarted my computer it said i have 7 days to activate Windows. I clicked on activate now and it said Windows is already activated but the count down hasnt stopped. So i guess after 7 days xp will just shut down. What can i do? Thanks

Sometimes when you install windows xp w/o reformatting the hard drive, i.e. just doing a repair, you'll get crazy messages like that. The few times I've seen it happen under those circumstances here's what happens....
1. Your seven days will be up and nothing will happen
2. You've actually not regisitered it this time and it'll prompt for you to when windows starts up on the 8th day, you regisiter and everything is fine
3. OR you'll try to regisiter and you'll keep getting the same message and have to start over.
Your best bet is to stick it out and see what happens and go from there, the absolute worst case scenerio is having to format and start over again, which if I was you I'd allow for that and use these seven days to get everything you don't want to lose put on a dvd or something.
It's a really good idea to start fresh anyway. Once everything is formatted get all your drivers updated and then create a restore point. next time you have to reformat or lose everything you'll save yourself a few hours and have a place to start that you know works fine.
