Do you find it annoying when shops leave "out of stock"  or "temporarily unavailable" stock listed on the shopping cart?"

I noticed a lot of places leaving their "out of stock" merchandise on the cart.... I am thinking of doing the same thing to keep the search engines linked to that page (to give us a better page result.).

What do you all think?  Post up.

I won't do it if it annoys the majority of customers / browsers.

i find it very annoying but if its advertisement you're after then go for it it will probably help

I find it annoying as well.

I won't do it for adverts if it annoys people. 95% of what I do is to please the customer... and I won't go against that *normally*

I dont find it annoying. Simply because I now know that they carry the game that I want and will wait for it to come back in stock if its at the price that I like. As long as I dont find out that its out of stock once I completed the order then its ok.

Right now, I have about 1500-2000 products to add.

Personally, I think it's helpful. Usually they list the estimated date of when they'll get more of the product in, and some places will automatically send you an email notifying you that they have the product in stock and are ready to ship.

thats if the user is signed up for info regarding that product.
But what if there is no definite restock date? and what if MONTHS go by before restocked?


So that is 1 annoy, 3 not annoy?

There is an example.... Ninja Masters for the Neo geo CD... see how the others are listed, and that one stats "sold out.."

that is what it would be like. But I have 378 products that are sold out at the moment..
649 that are not.

That would be A LOT of sold out products on there.... 1/3 of all listed would be sold out :lol

It all depends. I mean, if you plan to get some back in stock, and the chances are high that you will, then you may want to keep them. If the item was a once-in-a-lifetime extremely rare game or something, and the chances of you getting another in stock are slim to none, you may want to remove it from the store.

well.. it all goes in spurts.

You may not get a certain title in for a while.... but then you may be fulll for a few months of that title... then you may go for another long time without that title.

Meh... I hate deciding.

I think its better to know that at least it WAS in stock, and that they were looking in the right place for it, theres just nothing left. I would vote not annoying.

once you all are done with the 1st Question, I will start up a poll for a second question in relation to this.

IE... For all those who voted not annoying.... Would you be annoyed browsing a store in which 1/3 of the items are "out of stock?" OR what would you think about that?
