A Sonic Retrospective

brilliant but one thing

Sonic was released in North America June of 1991....and then in Japan July 1991...why? Because Sega wanted to see how it would do in foreign markets before setting it loose to Japan.

We were guinnea pigs man....and you could say this game could have been a USA exclusive to the Genesis US...if it wasnt for the insane profit it made

In fact, our version of Sonic 1 on Genesis is more like a beta cart. Since the Japanese version of Sonic 1 has graphical improvements in some parts of the game (actually looks better) and fixed the "Hitting the spikes" glitch that was in the USA version...

Amazing what less than one month of programming touch ups can do :)

Just think what could have happened if Sonic failed...

Actually I just remembered. What could have happened to Sonic if he failed?

He would have been replaced by Mighty the Armadillo...one of Sonic's pals from Knuckles Chaotix and "Sega Sonic Arcade" He disappeared when Sonic Heroes came out.

Yet Yuji Naka's first idea was Mighty. If you take a pciture of Sonic and Compare it to Mighty, you'd have the exact same character pretty much. (Google search: Mighty the Armadillo) The look and attiude are a dead give away

An armadillo wouldn't be as catchy as a hedgehog. :lol

If you go to ebaumsworld and search for sonic....you can get alot of awesome tributes. :D
