Am I doing this correctly?

When I wanted to send a video to a friend I didn't know how.Someone told me that when the desired video was playing to click on the address bar at the very top followed by right-clicking on copy,then paste it on the desired spot(In this case E-Mail.) and he was right.My question is if this works then what's the point in using the "Cut" option?

Cut will move a selected item to the clipboard while copy simply copies it instead.

Cut comes in handy when you're doing any kind of word processing and you're swapping sentences around a page.
