Intel is. It's common knowledge actually because AMD's are way too powerful for laptops. They produce too much heat and eat up batteries like there's no tomorrow. Intel has the better mobile chip. If you're thinking about desktops then AMD is the choice. At the moment AMD does not have a good mobile chip that addresses the issues I just stated.

Hmmm. I knew that the AMD chips were big (laptop I'm looking at weighs 15 pounds :o)

So would an

Intel® Pentium® 4 660 Desktop Processor w/ HT Technology 3.6GHz 800MHz FSB 2MB ($330)

be better than an

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4400+ with HyperTransport and Dual Core Technology? ($440)

They are about as equivilant I can get in pricing.

I had a response all drawn up. it was nice.. and well put together... I posted, and got that message "someone just posted... preview the post."
I accidentally close out the window and lost my response  :hh

So.. I'll try to write it again.

For laptops... I think you'll want to go Centrino.... no? They are supposed to save more energy... fit into smaller laptops, and provide comparable processing power.

BV :hat
