No. Well, it won't be any time soon at least. It's over-expensive hardware that can't fulfill it's own potential. The Wii has more fun, motion-sensor controlled games and the Xbox has better serious action games (and graphics currently). The PS3 graphics processor isn't even much more powerful than the Xbox 360's. And all this coming from a former Sony loyalist. In my honest opinion, the Xbox 360 is the best next-gen console.

Though he's wrong..because the Wii is best :) I don't really hear anyone arguing for a PS3 though. If you buy a Wii + 360 = $650. If you buy a PS3 = $600. You do the math on that one.
 
The which system is best thing does not work. You need to decide what you want to do with a system and what game you want to play. When you know those things you can decide which system to buy.
 
Is the PS3 any good? Yes. Will it deliver the goods as planned? Most likely. But is it worth shelling out $600 for? Not according to me. Simple economics suggests to me that the 360 and Wii will be a better "bang for the buck" deal than the PS3.

This question is too general, and it seems like a loaded one considering every gamer is biased.
 
To be fair, I'm a former Sony loyalist proclaiming that the Wii and the 360 are better then the PS3. The PS3 is why I turned away from Sony consoles. You can't argue with that. Maybe.

The PS2 had a great success. It will be quite hard for sony do repeat the formula now that the playing field has changed and they stayed the same. The PS3 does not have the online-centric style that Wii and 360 are flaunting. Its biggest card is the Blueray, which may be a flop.
 
I like all 3. I am partial to the 360 and the Wii is fun, but graphically challenged. The PS3 will be good to have come March (Lair). And the PS3 controller weighs liek an ounce so it is nice and lite!
 
If you want it for the Blu-Ray, it's great! Stand-alone Blu-Ray players cost about $1000. With the PS3 you get a Blu-Ray player that also plays games, and it's only $600.


Or, that's what Sony's PR would say, anyway.

Personally I'm doing the wait-and-see thing with the PS3. If some games that I want come out for it, and the blu-ray doesn't fail horribly (like Betamax), then it's a possibility.
 
I agree with Strubes. Get a Wii and an Xbox 360 for around the same price as a PS3. They're more than worth it.

Yep.

Personally, I'd buy the Wii first. If it wasn't suiting all of your needs, nab a 360 with it. Ps3 cost too much and delivers too little right now. Granted, I wouldn't normally suggest a 360, but I think it's the smarter choice of the two. I have no interest, but general gamers likely do.
 
Blu-ray is basically the only reason to get a PS3 at the moment. It has a few decent games but I doubt anybody wants to spend $800+ to play them. If Blu-ray is defeated by HD-DVD (which the Xbox 360 has an add-on of) then the PS3 would only be able to play last-gen DVDs. Not that I'd care but I know some would. Besides, the actual movie selections for the HD-DVD and Blu-ray formats is pretty pitiful at the moment. I've still got to convince my brother that he's not going to get a PS3 on the UK launch day, especially as he hasn't even pre-ordered one yet. I just said, "get a giant stack of cash and hit eBay with it". He still isn't buying it.
