Are The Senators Giving Judge Satomayor A Hard Time On Purpose?

Hi Members!

I've been watching the confirmation hearing with Judge Sotomayor.

I understand the magnitude of seriousness that comes along with such a proceeding,and being thorough in questioning a lot,and I am aware of the remark she made earlier with respect white men.
That aside,it still seems to me that the senators are overdoing it a bit.When I asked my father his opinion,he stated that the republicans are giving her a hard time on purpose because they don't want her in.Is my father being sarcastic?

Yeah your father pretty much right on this one typicialy the Presidents own party go easy on the judicial nomination and the opposing party will be rather hard. Just look at the nominations back during the Bush admin. you had Repubs treating the nominees with kid gloves and the dems grilling them.
