How many more stores must go down to satisfy it's greed? GameStop truly is the Wal-Mart of the industry. "Sorry Mom and Pop stores, we gotta take your good business and force teenagers to work under hidden commission terms, which we'll tell them about if they don't sell these magazines!"

So 72 "Rhino Video Game" stores that were owned by Blockbuster, now belong to GameStop.
 
I have never even heard of Rhino. Around here we have Eb, though...and Gamestop. I actually like it that I can use either card at either place now, for my discount...but things could get ugly later on if they keep adding game stores to their collection.
 
No wonder they have been cutting hours....they did this last year too right before we bought out EB. Everyone's hours got cut so that payroll wouldn't be as much. Well hopefully since they were successful they will give us hours again.

Only if your store is successful. It depends on the amount of traffic your store gets. It will never be determined by how a good an entire chain is doing. When I was in Dallas at the Gamestop manager convention, I talked to some of the managers and that's basically the gist of it.
 
I know this is the way business is and works... but it kind of sad.

It's almost like... an industry losing a personality and becoming a stale... dull... one sided business that has no variety.

Maybe There needs to be the Game Addiction chain :lol

BV, you'd own the competition. Business secret: Offer competitive prices, more choices and better customer service. Shh. Now don't tell anyone and git-R-done. :D
 
For classic gaming, I have to go online. There are no stores in my area that really carry what I play. Rhino use to have some nice Sega and Nintendo stuff, but looks like they are going out of business. And I will add that they are not as mint as the stuff I got from BV.

Yeah, I know. My store does pretty well though, and we went from like 150 hours to 90. I know the 150 was holiday hours, but before that I know we were getting more than 90. I'd say like 110 or 120 was the norm before December.

I'm talking about store hours, not my own personal hours...lol! 150 would be hellish for one person! Dear dog I shudder thinking about it.

But seriously, no, the store was getting like 150-180 hours in December. Even with 8 people on the staff, everyone got pretty decent hours (I'd usually get 36 hours a week). Sometimes we had three people in the store at once! (Normally only two people work at a time).

Now we're down to 90 hours for the whole store for a week and I'm working 27 hours a week instead of 36.

I remember though when I worked at Wal-Mart, their fiscal year ended in like February or something, so they'd cut payroll hours for all of January until the end of the fiscal year. After that the hours would return to normal. I wonder if GameStop does the same thing.
