Okay, so last night I was reading a gaming rag, and inserted between some pages was an offer from Columbia House. Buy 5 DVDs for fifty cents plus one for $14. Then I have two years to buy three more DVDs at regular price. But in between my contract obligations I can buy DVDs for like 60% off retail. The selection seems to be pretty good. And I have filled out the card, but have not yet dropped it in the mail.

My question: Is it worth it? I say yes because I think it's convenient. And I don't like going to Wally World or Target only to get lost in all the nonsense that they sell. I also say no because I realize that these mail order offers can get out of control.

What do you all think??

If you can actually find that many DVDs that you want from them, it CAN be a good deal. Back when I used columbia house, I got stuck with some crap I didn't really want because their choices were limited.

The "full price" stuff was a rip off. I'd rather check the bargin bin DVDs at Meijer or Target or buy something through a third party seller on Amazon.com personally.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I do have the option of them not sending me their junk. And their selection for the introductry offer was decent. And since I like the obscure movies more than the mainstream ones, I rarely am dissapointed.

Besides, they had some listings of things I couldn't find locally for some reason.

You get good prices but where they get you is in shipping. Is it convenient? Yes, but paying just tax at a store would be much cheaper. I used to get CD's from BMG and a CD would be like $9 but the shipping was an extra $5. So basically I paid what I would at a store.
