CD-R Help

Okay, I tried to put songs on My xbox using a cd-r, and i get a message about the xbox not being able to read it. i try another brand. no dice. are there only certain brands of cd-r that work? do i need cd-rw? plz HEEELLLLPPPP!!

It depends on what type of cd drive your xbox has. The older the xbox, the less chance of you being able to use cd-r's.

This exact same thing happened to me. It really sucks because the older drives do read Cd-R's, but they are also known to be faulty and unreliable. The newer drives malfunction considerably less, but don't read CD-R's. It's a tradeoff either way. Keep me informed as to whether or not CD-RW's work, because I have not tried that yet but definitely would do that if it works.

I have a samsung drive that doesn't read cd-r's and my older phillips drive didn't read cd-r's either. Basically that renders the ability to add soundtracks useless for me as most of my cd's are burned. Oh well I guess.

It sucks for me cause for Christmas, I got the Xbox and a bunch of games n stuff. I also got 3 of those 60 CD-R packs with the intent to burn and put on the Xbox freely. Alas, my Xbox doesn't play CD-R's. :-\

Do you own any cd's?

The reason why I find it frustrating to not be able to rip burnt cd's is because it's much easier to make a burnt cd of 20 songs and then just rip that all onto my Xbox at once. Because I can't do that I'm forced to upload 2 or 3 songs from several different cd's, which takes a lot of time. I still can get the songs I want on there, it would just be a lot easier if I didn't have to do that.

Seriously, I have over 4 gigs of songs on my computer and a good 90% of those are cd's I ripped onto my computer.

Double post, I know...

But, I found out today you can buy a "media center" thingy for your Xbox that will let it connect with your PC and whatnot. It's $100 Canadian and comes with the DVD remote deal too, which in my opinion is still too much money. But for quick ease of data transfer that is an option...
