death magnetic anyone?

i definatly think metallica redeemed themselves with this album after the tragedy that was st. anger :lol after hearing just the first song i was impressed..

the album artwork is really cool too, i ordered the shirt for it, check out DEATH MAGNETIC

cant wait to get it.
thoughts?

I was still disappointed personally. They tried to hard to recapture a sound that they can no longer play. The songs are too long, the solos are not that great, and James' voice is done.

Death Magnetic has its moments but not enough to make this a listenable album.

Welcome to the boards Lola, hope you stick around and post up here for awhile.

Unfortunately Homi C's right. No links until you've been here longer/posted more.

As far as Metallica's concerned... never really liked them all that much, and St. Anger was too terrible for me to trust anything they do anymore.

I will say... I've only heard 2 songs from it... and James's voice... what happened? he is seriously off key.

He never was the best singer... but at least when he growled before, he was closer to the right key.

I think they tried too hard... and they tried to mix their old style with their newer style... and the result is a bit off.

Blew his vocal chords back in '93. He's lucky he still has a voice. His voice has been getting progressively worse since then.

Yup. If I remember correctly, they had to stop the show because he had completely lost his voice. Now he has to do vocal warm-ups before he does any serious singing. Also, it is the reason why they downtune their guitars. Which makes the older songs sound like crap. So that his voice won't get lost in the mix.
