Disney buys Marvel Comics for $4 Billion

Of course, Gamefaqs makes the poll of the year:

Which Marvel-Disney crossover would you most like to see?

Kingdom Hearts meets the X-Men

Muppet Spider-Man

The Incredibles team up with The Avengers

Hulk smashes The Jonas Brothers

Hannah Montana vs. Wolverine

NOW that is funny!

HULK SMAAASSHHHHH :lol

IMO... this is a surprising move. I don't know why, but I would NEVER imagine Disney buying Marvel Comics. Don't ask me why, I'm not sure... I just do not see it happening.

†B†V† :hat

My mind has problems accepting this, I think I am suffering from emotional trauma. Total shock to me. I grew up with Marvel comics. I paid 12 cents for each issue, then it went to 15 cents, followed by 25 cents, 35 cents, 50 cents, and then somewhere in the 75 cent range I had to hang it up.

Donald Duck joins X-men?

This is a nightmare. I seriously hope Wolverine slashes Mickey into tiny pieces.

This could be good if disney doesn't water marvel down. Disney craps gold! Maybe with disney's disposable income backing marvel the industry could rebound. I've not collected or read in years but I try to keep up trends and popularity and comics just don't have the fan base they once did. I'd like to see a rebound. I've been in walmarts and not seen comics on the magazine racks. I used to be able to buy them in walmarts, drug stores, news stands, now the only place I know of selling them is bookstores and speciality shops. Even as a collectors item they've dropped in value hard. The golden age and uber rare stuff has stood pretty firm but the 10 - 1000 dollar comics seem to be worth not nearly as much as they once were. Last time I check my collection was worth about 45% what it once was, I've paid more for comics 10 years ago than what they're worth now. Hopefully Disney can turn all that around and NOT water down some of the more graphic and violent titles. But they probably bought marvel for the movies and won't give a crap about the comics.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel now completely pulls out of comics. Their characters are worth more in movies and DVDs than they are in print now that the comic industry is a niche market.

Still, I don't see this as a perfect match.

it's kind of funny how comics are now not that popular but manga seems to be rising....
