Do i need anything special?

Im not a big computer person, but id like to start playing pc games is ther anything special I would need to add to my computer to be able to play.

well if you plan on playing any games made in the past 2-3 years you are going to need a good pc with good ram and a good video card. If you like playing RTS games then it isnt necessary to have an amazing video card. On the other hand if you are playing FPS games such as Unreal Tournament or Half Life 2 then you are going to need a decent video card for it. It all depends on what type of game you are into. If you want to play Diablo 2 with us for example, an expensive video card would not be needed.

I'm no computer guru, but I'd say nowadays you would need at least 512 MB of RAM for most games. Video card is less important, since most games can use low end cards, at the cost of graphics.
 
well yea if you want to play diablo most systems built in the lat 7 years can run it.

but if you want to play say battlefield two. you are going to need more ram and a new videocard(around 200-400$)
 
You should go to your game store look at the boxed of the games you want and look at the minimum requirements. Also see what the recommended requirements are, that way you will know what you need.

I have no clue! ive just been hearing more and more about pc gaming and thought id try to get in on it. I was thinking about starting off with somthing like Diablo 2. Are the controls easy to get used to? did you catch on fast?Do you think I should start off with another game?

All you need is a mouse :lol and a few hotkeys. The controls are very basic for that game compared to other games.
 
You might want to get a used computer. These are cheaper than new computers, but not as good. On the plus side, you will more or less always get a load of free stuff with it. ;)

That would depend on the type of games he wants to play. Plus it might not last him as long, but its not a bad idea.
