Don't Take It The Wrong Way

Hello Everyone,

I've been on this forum a little while now and with your help I've learned a lot. There is one subject I wanted to touch upon that I explained while in the chatroom one evening.

As I explained, when people first meet me I unintentionally rub them the wrong way,due to the fact that sometimes what I'm trying to get across in all sincerity comes differently than what my desired point that I'm trying to get across means. For those who don.t know, when you are talking on the internet, what you say comes across as lacking emotional content, unless outright obvious such as saying "I love You".If I'm sitting with a group of people and I decide to raz someone by calling them pencil neck for example,if they look at me they see my facial expression along with my tone thus realizing that I'm kidding around.Online, that element is non existent, thus causing the person your kidding around with to perhaps take it as an insult causing friction.

Adding "Smilies" can certainly help.I would very much like to hear your opinion on this issue, and again thank you for all your help.

God bless.

i always use this "XD" smile to show that i'm kidding and i ALWAYS USE CAPS TO SHOW THAT I'M ANGRY and i use this =_= to show that i'm either bored or insulted by any comment, but even with this smiles not all my comments are read the same way for other people and some might get the wrong meaning of what i say, even a smile can be read the wrong way

In text it is easy to take things the wrong way, since there aren't physical cues to clue you in on what the real meaning is behind what someone says.

Smilies help, though. Or you can say, "Just kidding." Sometimes you're going to have to spell it out that you're joking or being sarcastic; not everyone has the same sense of humor. :) By "you" I don't mean you personally, just in general.
