Strong DS and GBA sales, meet strong upcoming titles.
By David Adams
January 5, 2005 - Nintendo's always dominated the handheld gaming market, and with the addition of the Nintendo DS to the ruling class, other systems (ahem -- PSP -- ahem) will have a real challenge ahead.

Just how well are the Nintendo portables doing? Today Nintendo announced that the DS system has sold 1.3 million units in North America so far. The Game Boy Advance, long a champion, is still no slouch: the system sold 8 million units in North America in 2004. Nintendo points out that makes the GBA the nation's best-selling video game system.

The DS has more than 160 new titles already planned, including Need for Speed Underground 2, WarioWare: Touched!, Pokemon Dash, Yoshi Touch & Go, and Retro Atari Classics.

GBA owners need not worry, either, with more than 125 upcoming titles, including WarioWare: Twisted!, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Mario Party Advance, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Pokemon Emerald, Ace Combat Advance, Klonoa 2, and Banjo Pilot.

Of course, IGN will be right here bringing you all the latest on these titles. So stay tuned, and keep those hands warm.

dang... 160 DS titles and 125 gba titles... that is a crapload... in addition to GC titles... Nintendo's systems are gettin busy :lol

anyway.... there are some great games coming out on BOTH handhelds.  Things are looking to be great!
except... where are all these titles? :? Honestly, it seems to be a title drought for DS.

drought for sure...the launch titles leave a LOT to be desired. Where's Zelda, where's Samus etc.

Are they planning on realeasing a lot of those bigger games around the same time that the PSP launches?

I thought so, but I am not 100% sure now.

release dates are changing like crazy.... for every system.

There are some that are wondering if the PSP is making its launch date in March.

so.. odd things are definitely happening in the marketplace.
A few games (Such as SNK games are delayed a few months as well).

Zoo Keeper is coming out though... and that seems to be a pretty cool puzzle game.
There are a lot of cool RPG's, puzzle games, and other nice titles in the work it seems.
