Dune 2000

A few days ago, I was rifling through my cds in my truck, and came across a game that I had borrowed from a friend like many moons ago. I can't even remember when he handed it to me, but he said once in a conversation that it was a good game.

Now for my questions. Is this game indeed good? I have never played it before, and until a few days ago, I didn't even know that it was in my posession. And, is there a time when a borrowed game becomes an owned game simply because I now live 2900 miles from my buddy, I haven't seen him in months and I don't have his address? He never even asked for the game back while I was in the process of moving also...

Dune 2000? Is that like based on the book or something?

I played it quite a bit years ago when it first came out. Console RTSs are kind of awkward to play with the controller instead of mouse and keyboard, but it isn't too hard to figure out. It was put out by the same company that made the Command and Conquer games, so it's a lot like the PlayStation versions of C&C. Like Battle For Arrakis you have three sides (or "houses") to choose from, Atreides, Harkonnen and Ordos. The only resource to harvest in the game is Spice, and there are random sandworm attacks when you are travelling across the sand which is kinda cool. Unless they're eating your troops, that is! Each side has it's own super weapon to develop, too. The cuts scenes have some pretty good actors in them for a change as well.

Not a bad game, not a great game. There are certainly much better RTS games for PC, though.
