EA fakes religous protest

Early this month when EA released the game Dante's Inferno they hired actors to fake a religous protest at the games release.

My personal thoughts on the issue really do hope that this whips enough hostility that eventualy EA goes bankrupt. >:(
 
And the reason for EA picking up the license, and continuing to use it despite the little to no resemblance the game shares with the book, suddenly becomes clear.

Shameful.

Damn.
I take it you're not a huge fan of EA.Is it all because of this?If you worked for EA,would you not be more inclined to call it an abrasive business tactic.Ticking off and annoying people can prove to be good advertising.You're less likely to forget the ad because it angered you and more likely to tell friends just how angry it made you.No?

Kaz I haven't been much of a fan of EA for awhile now I still have alot of there classic PC stuff on an old computer but alot of there newer stuff just doesn't really interest me.
I'll agree it's an abrasive business tactic I'm not so sure if it's a smart one though.
 
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a unique marketing strategy, and I think it's a smart way too. I mean, it may be a little deceptive sure, but there's no such thing as bad publicity and I think grilling EA for trying to market a unique IP (ya know, instead of whining about how EA is a lazy company that pumps out sequels and clones) is ludicrous. EA has done a lot to improve its image and relations with gamers, I think it's time for gamers to let go of their old notion that EA is Evil Assosciated.
 
I was impressed with the "Godfather" series as well as the "Need For Speed" titles.The only thing I didn't like,was the crappy endings for their sports titles.It's not just EA ::D either,2K is the same.God forbid they should make their endings more satisfactory.
 
No real harm done here. I'm still not liking the fact that they're even making a Dante's Inferno game which has almost no resemblance to Dante's Inferno, but this ad campaign really isn't that big of a deal.

Well I never bothered to play the Godfather games by the time first one came out I had already given up on them ever making a decent video game based off of a live action movie and I hated the "Need For Speed" titles and as far as sports games go well I realize they aren't the only one who makes but they do make more then anyone else. The only closest to a sports game I have played in years is Dead or Alive Extreme Beach volleyball that and acouple legends of wrestling games.

QFT. I just don't understand why people were making this into an "EA is evil" thing. Bungie did an enormous ad campaign full of stuff that wasn't even remotely in the game (see BELIEVE) and they were never called evil.

Spartan that's simple they're helping to promote the wrongly held public image that Christians are all a bunch of video game hating freaks.

I don't see how one protest makes a whole community look like a bunch of video game hating freaks. If it came down to one protest then PETA, Moms, Governments, etc. would all be video game hating freaks.

The game is loosely based off of an epic that had basis in the christian world. I can see why they would use "christians" in a protest to the game.
 
Quite often,we are much harder on ourselves than God.He isn't as anal as most people think.

You don't have tell me how legalistic some groups within christianity are but to be fair they're a very small minority but usualy are pretty vocal and the news media loves parade those freaks shows around for the public.
