Eye of the Beholder series questions

Hello, I realize that the eob series is old, but I just recently started them (and finished eob I). I started eob II (the legend of darkmoon) and ran into a point in the second subterranean level under the temple where there is a stuck-door. I could not force this door open. I resorted to surfing hints/maps on eob related threads on the web; I have found everything up to this point (all secret doors, items ... missed nothing). There was only one thread which mentioned the door: "...there is a door #10 which can be forced open, behind which is a large group of 24 + clerics and skeletons ..." or something to that effect. I clicked on this door 100 times or so, in every possible way, left and right mouse button, to no avail. The instruction book says the strongest character attempts to force any closed gates/doors. My strongest character is a ranger with strength 22, and my second strongest is a fighter with strength 18/36, everyone else is below 18 (I think the lowest strength was 10). I would think 22 Str. should be more than sufficient to open this door. It could be that I have a defective disk? If anyone still has the strategy guide, I'd appreciate if you could check if there is any minimum-strength restrictions on this particular door? Or does anyone else remember running into a hitch at this particular door at this point?

I Am sorry I cannot be of help... but I hope someone here knows about this :)

I just wanted to say welcome to the boards :) its good to have you here! I hope you enjoy your stay.

I figured out why my group couldn't pass through that door last night. I re-started the game using the game's pre-made group and I didn't have any problems opening that door, but when I went back to my original group's saved game the door still wouldn't open. I compared the strengths of my group vs the pre-made group and they were comparable (my ranger strength of 22 was higher than the fighter of the pre-made group (who had 18/something). So what I did was to drop my ranger (saved first) and then tried again to pry that door ... this time I had no problem opening it.

What I think happened was that I had gained a magical item in eob I that increased my ranger's strength above what he originally started as. And when I transferred them to eob II the game wouldn't allow certain items to be transferred {a pop-up came up at game start indicating that certain unbalancing-items wouldn't be transferred from the eob I to a(n) eob II party}. But, it didn't reduce my ranger's strength to compensate whatever it was without that special item. So, when I came to the stuck-door on subterranean level 2 the game saw a character with strength 22 (which wasn't really 22 since I, at that time, no longer had that special item), and this somehow caused the game to lock-up (at least that particular door anyway) in the closed position. To solve it I had to drop my ranger (which really sucked) from the party, but the game must go on.

Thanks for any comments anyone may have had, took me a while to figure it out. But anyway, maybe this glitch (and the solution) will help someone in the future. Thanks for the welcome Bluevoodu.
