Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem- Hero of Light & Shadow for NDS!

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Nintendo announced Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem ~ Hero of Light and Shadow will be coming to DS, which is a remake of the Super Famicom game from 1994, the game has never been released outside Japan. The DS remake will be released sometimes this year.

the-magicbox.com reported this. However, will America receive this gem? After all, the last one didn't sell quite well or I could be wrong. :(

Gonna buy it if it does but I'll make sure to have low expectations when I play :T

well.... I just hope you are not judging every game that comes out of fire emblem just because shadow dragon was more like a updated port than a remake....

I for one am very excited about this game... shadow dragon was very different and probably the worst in the series (which in my standards means it is a decent game) but I believe this one will be different.. after all, those japanese keep bragging about how the SNES fire emblems were the best ones ever made, so even if this is just a glorified port I doubt i will be disappointed

Still doesn't change the fact that it was bad. Seriously, killing off your own characters to unlock sidequests/missions? Not to mention all those characters that had no dialogue.

The SNES remake was much better than the DS one, just a straight up remake without useless characters

...that's what they are remaking actually... fire emblem mystery of the emblem is the SNES remake. (which is divided in 2 books, book 1 is a remake of fire emblem and book 2 is the actual sequel)

"Monshō no Nazo was popular enough to hold the No. 1 position on the Famitsu chart for one year. In 2006, Monshō no Nazo was the only Fire Emblem game which appeared in the top one hundred games list from readers of the magazine Famitsu, holding the sixty-eighth place."

though... to be honest I thought it was kind of interesting to kill off characters to get those missions because it was rather ironic that i always have fought so hard in other fire emblem games to keep everyone alive and now i have to let them die, not to mention I kind of got used to the whole "dialogue-less" characters thanks to other SRPGs so it didn't bother me as much, it was not a stellar fire emblem game but i thought it was decent enough to make me play it through a few times over. However, I know where you are coming from though and I can understand your dislike towards the game, Shadow Dragon was not a standard fire emblem game by any means it really was different from other stellar games from the series (like path of radiance/radiant dawn).. but i am the kind of person that sometimes does not hate something just because it is different....

Woah really? Guessing it's like an apology for Shadow Dragon lol.

It's not so much that it was different, just that it felt so stripped down. Support conversations, Story, Cool specials, classes. It just felt lacking in all those. I had been playng FE for GBA so that's why it disappointed me. Not to mention all the hype. Only good thing was I got the Cel for pre-ordering

I remember buying Rondo of Swords to hold me over til FE:SD came out and that game was a much better SRPG that I played more than SD. Pretty bad considering the GBA ones were my most played games

it is possible... I do wonder if they are REALLY going to remake book 1... it would be good since not many people played shadow dragon.

funny that you mention that I did play rondo of Swords (a friend of mine lend it to me) around the same time i got SD but i gave it back so i could finish shadow dragon xD.

well to be fair I did know how Shadow Dragon was sort of going to be like before I played so I did not really get overhyped for it. Usually I do get really hyped up when a new fire emblem game is announced because it is my favorite SRPG series, and this one was no exception, but my hype sort of went down as I researched a bit about the game before buying it and i figured it was still worth a buy for me.

but anyway... every series has its black sheep...maybe the mystery of the emblem will redeem Marth's story

That's cool that you liked it, but I am still going to play it with low expectations just so if it is good, I won't be disappointed. It's just that ever since I played Fire Emblem for GBA the following ones haven't been as good as when I first played it, they kind of progressively disappointed me :lol

well that's understandable, that fire emblem game was a masterpiece it would be very hard for following games to top it (though my favorites still are path of radiance/radiant dawn) I guess the fire emblem series also suffers from OOT syndrome....

just be warned though I don't think they added support conversation on this fire emblem game so I doubt they will be added in this remake. not to mention, if i remember correctly the SNES version did not have playable axe users so if they are going to keep the weapon triangle they will probably add some filler fighters.

though i do have to admit.... I wished this was a remake of fire emblem 4 instead of 3 (from what i have seen fire emblem 4 is the best one in the series but it was never released here)

No sir, I will not get excited.

I am going in with the lowest expectations so IF it is good, I will enjoy it :lol

Who wants screen shots?! Lemme hear you SCREAM!
If you didnt tell me otherwise, I would just think these were from the first shadow dragon, although the pictures in-game look a little more polished.

after reading what you can do in the game... i got really really excited =3. download episodes, create your own costumizable character, play the storyline of the Fire emblem anime
