My game idea is to build a first person simulation fantasy adventure game that updates Quarterly with   bots that are used to make the game more entertaining.
First imagine a game where you start out with a character creation like pro wrestling games uses.
Next Add a skill ability and advancement  list like in D&D The book version not the video game.
Then add a fantasy environment that contains 1 city (and   hidden places you can explore to)
While in   city there are thieves that really steal, Guards that really do there job, building (like castles, prisons, stores, inns)you can buy, build, shop in burn down even take over using fighting politics or just brute strength.each player can do everthing in the city they can do outside. to bots and to players. (equip ed items are safe) the city reacts to threats (bigger threats= bigger responce) buy sending out guards, hiering mercenaries, building controlls. etc
outside city plays like action adventure only you can set up camps and build your own city's
lastly your character never leaves the game even when you are Off LINE!! you become a bot doing what you program your guy to do

Welcome to the boards! Hope you'll stick around :)

The game itself would have quite the learning curve I bet, but for a concept I like it. :)

sounds kinda cool like a first person mmo like Kirby said the learning curve would be steep and newbs would probably be in danger all the time because of the ability to do anything anytime also it would also be dangerous to anyone that your character would be in danger of being killed because it turns into a bot while your are absent (unless you give bots super AI and no human player could beat them, which would not be fun) and hopfully you make it like guild wars where you have the ability to rearrange your skill points so nerfing will not be a problem

overall sounds like a cool idea but there's a bunch of potential problems you may need to sort out first

Sounds cool, but is WAY too ambitous. Also, if you can never leave the server (you become a bot) people would prey on bots, who simply could not fight like a human could or would.

that's the main problem, the reason bots don't take an active role in most mmo's is because they lack the AI to interact on the same lvl as the human players

That's not the problem. The problem is that in any match between a computer and a player in a videogame will result in the computer winning. When pitted against something that can perform thousands of calculations in a split second and react in just as short a time, a human being will never win, at least in a videogame. Bots are artificially dumbed down so that they cycle between visible patterns or something of that nature. In the end, they are programmed to let you win.

There are, of course, other reasons why a game like this has not been created before, and it is not simply because no one has ever thought of it before. I mean, the ability to build your own city outside of a city that is programmed to respond to your actions in the first place? I'm not saying this can't be done, but I can't even imagine an interface that would allow you to do both these things, and combining multiple interfaces to do this would be a daunting task to any programming team.

Computers are not always better. Kasparov has beaten computers like Deep Blue before. Granted, that isn't a video game scenario but it is man versus machine.
