Game Spotlight 3/5/05 - Super Smash Bros. Melee

Kind of inspired by BV's weekly system posts, I thought it might be a neat idea to make daily posts about individual games. Each day a different game can get the spotlight. :)

Anyway, I thought today I'd pick SSBM.

Recently I just started playing again, and I had forgotten how fun and addicting SSBM is. I played through a bunch of stuff and got a few new trophies.

My favorite character to play is Link, although I'm also pretty decent with Mario and Samus. I also like to occassionally play as Jigglypuff or Pikachu.

I think it's more fun with multiple people, but playing by myself against the computer is fun too.

Post up your thoughts and stuff. :)

My friends and I busted this game out yesterday night actually. We were all in "good spirits", if you catch my drift, so it was a blast. The only problem was that the friends I was playing with had overly obsessed with the game when it came out, and they're impossible to beat (I'd really like to see these guys in some kind of international tournament, I honestly think they could compete with the best) so I always lost immediately. It was still a lot of fun though.

Still my favourite Gamecube game, and my overall favourite beat-em-up (don't care what people say, this game's a beat-em-up). It's given me more fun times in multiplayer than any other game, maybe because i'm such a nostalgic Nintendo nut, but either way. It's also got a lot of challenge behind it's cheerful premise, I still get pwned in some of those event modes.

Overall, if a fighting game can give me over 300 hours of gameplay, it's definately doing something right.
