gamecopypro scam Lies & Warnings after paying money.

If you have admin on this site please do not ban me for this post because im only tring to give a freindly warning about a web site scam that revolves around a very growing gaming nature.

I went to one of my favorite sites to view game trailers and reviews and saw an ad that lead me to the site called gamecopypro on the main page there were two
claims that the gamecopypro program was easy to use. I soon found out that this program wanted me to void my xbox warranty and possibly risk losing my xboxlive
account validation by breaking the hardwere seal and digging into the inner parts of my 360 (in order to copy games). For some of you this kinda thing is easy but for
me and alot of others this is not easy at all. Two other claims where on this one one saying they have a 60 day money back garantee and secondly an atuo response
that I will get a response to my emailed refund request in 24 hours. My last email was as follows (thing have been shortend to concerve space but nothing is out of context)..

I've been waiting for a response for 15 hours now. If you guys do not refund my money to my credit card I will post on utube about your false advertisments. You have on your site that this program is easy and im sure alot of people would think its not easy to void an xbox hardwere warranty and risk losing an valid xbox live account. You guys did not have anything on your site about the risks involved on your gamecopypro web site untill the money was allready handed over. I can contact my bank security department and have them come down on you. Pleae refund my money.

You have 48 hours to get my money back on my card or im going global.

I have not recived any response and its been over 24 hours long since I have made the purchuce and the emails.

I posted this message on the member fourm for the gamecopypro users and got banned for spaming in less than 5 minutes after posting only one message single message on the site. So how is it that there is the staff to ban me in five minutes on a low populations site for tring to raise an awareness of a think like this but for some reason I dont get a email response for my rrefund request after 24hrs+ and continuing. So please be warned that there is sites like this.

I have screen shots of my post with what I wrote and on top of the post its says that I have only made one post on thier forum and have a screen shot of them banning me. please feel free to email me if you would like to see the screen shots. This is the first thing I have ever been banned from and ive been playing comps since apple pc's and playing games since attari came out.

First off, I would like to say welcome to Egameaddiction. I would also say I am sorry that you fell victim to this scam. I say scam because it is obviously illegal to copy copyrighted software in the first place. Not only is this company at risk of facing litigation, but so is the site that had the banner up.

Egameaddiction does not in any way endorse tampering with copyrighted material, and I think your case is a good example why. I also don't think a ban is warranted. And if the other mods and administrator feels the same way, I say we leave this up...

Welcome to the site benevolent...if you're looking to get games for cheap, our admin owns a store and is very honest (he's been doing business for years now). I'm sorry to hear about what happened. You have to be really careful about these kind of sites man. :-\

I'll be honest. Can't say I feel sorry for you. OK maybe a little.

But I doubt you have much of a case in trying to bring these people down. I'm no expert, but you did get scammed out of trying to commit an illegal act.

I agree with Creepin' on this one. Although it is by no means in the same catagory as calling the police because a crack dealer sold you crushed drywall, it is likely better for you to cut your losses rather than opening yourself to litigation.

Bewarez teh warez, you get what you pay for. ::)

But it isn't warez, that's the thing. Gamecopypro is a computer program that lets you create legal backups for your games, which is valid under US law according to GameFAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/help/entry.html?cat=24). At least, as long as there's no special countermeasures on the CD/DVD, and to my knowledge there is none on the 360. The program is mainly for ease-of-use.

TC, while they were wrong to ignore your requests, you still should have done a bit of research. It is absolutely impossible to create a perfect copy of a 360 (or any other system save for Dreamcast) game on a normal CD/DVD. The reason is because the 360 will only recognize official Microsoft DVD's. So, in order to make your 360 recognize backup games, you'll have to modchip it, which for the 360 at least is an automatic void of warranty and possibly a violation of DMCA law. There are some systems, such as the PS2, where you don't have to have a modchip but rather just have to plug up a few holes to make the PS2 think the lid is closed, then you use a CD called SwapMagic to swap it out. This is totally legal, as you don't open up your system or permanently modify it. See the line? :)

Anyway, I wish you luck, and I suggest not trying to backup any games for the 360. It's just not worth it.

It's no secret that most folks use backup programs for warez. Emulators are legal too, but the overwhelming majority of ROMs and ISOs aren't. You deal in shady areas, you get shady results, the risk is always implied.

I'm not defending the use of illegal distribution of ROMs or ISOs. I understand where you're coming from. But this program, Gamecopypro, has legal uses as well. It is not illegal to make a backup of a game, but most people don't know how. This program solves that problem. There are many things in this world that can be used for illegal purposes, but has its legal purposes as well (to name a few: cars, prescription drugs, guns, arguably alcohol and tobacco as one can give it to minors, knives, etc.). This is among them. It makes a legal backup for you. What you do with said backup is your own solemn choice, and the program makers aren't responsible for it.

Emulators are legal too...
Most are, but some aren't. For one, any sort of emulator that has parts of the original system's BIOS embedded into it are illegal. As an example, GBA emulators for the PSP require the GBA BIOS to operate, which makes them illegal.

Point taken, but I still think that the majority of people use copy programs for illegal purposes, unlike cars, knives, etc.. Speaking of knives, just this morning I bought my mom one of those pepper spray things and they asked for my birth date because you have to be over 18 to buy them. So I asked the checkout girl, "Do you ask for birth dates when people buy butcher knives cuz I think those are more dangerous than pepper spray." She said, "No" and was not amused. :lol

That is your opinion, and I respect that.

And haha... very true.

I understand what you're saying and agree, but unlike music CD's, the majority of the public doesn't just want to make "backup" games. As hard as I want to believe that, it just isn't that true. Sure there are a few who do but they are very few and far between.
