Ground Beef Help

Before I launch into making spaghetti in a few days time I need a bit of help in the preparation of the actual meat. I am planning to buy the packs of meat that are like this in either beef or turkey,

If I freeze it for like 2 -4 days time how long does it take to thaw out?

And then once it has done that, when I add it to a large pot, do I just turn the heat up and leave it uncovered, and for how long?

I am always a bit afraid to cook meat cause it always has to be certain temps and such and Im trying it for the first time so please help. I already know how to do the noodles and the sphagetti sauce, well actually how would I add the sphagetti sauce to this, is that also heated in a separate pot?

Spaghetti isn't rocket science.

Will it be thawing in the fridge or in room temperature?

You put the meat in a pan, and you cook it til it's all brown. You don't have to worry about temp or anything, you're just grounding it up. :lol

Then you put the sauce in with the hamburger and warm the sauce up, and when the noodles are done add some of the sauce to the noodles so they don't get sticky.

I guess I will be thawing it in room temperature since the roommates have too much stuff in the fridge.

Okay, so just until it is brown, then add the sauce to it, then scoop it all and add to noodles!! Simply 3 steps. Perfect.

Thanks!!! I guess I will try it out and even buy garlic bread, fix it to celebrate the first day of junior year (3) of college.

I would do Meatballs as well, but the people who have the best tasting meatballs are TOO protective nad secretive with their ingredients and recipe :( Family sometimes gets in the way!

Meatballs are pretty easy. For mine I just put in some chopped onions, garlic, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and that's about it. I know my Mom puts some egg in hers, but I think that's just to keep them together better. Just fry them in some olive oil until they have a nice dark outside, and then let them cook in the sauce for a while. I also put some sausage in there which is awesome if you like it.

Hm that sounds utterly delicious with the garlic and salt. I might have to take note and try this in the future.

Why is that? It's just meat. Are you a vegetarian?

Yes, she is.

If I can cook spaghetti, anybody can. I am a horrid cook and I burn things a lot. This is something that is very hard to mess up man. You'll do fine.

Thanks, did not know that. I love meat, so it's really hard for me to understand how it can gross someone out. It always baffles me.

Well I ended up grossing out at the thought of eating Veal when me and my friends went to this pricey restaurant (spent $80). I had never known what it was before and it was brutally disgusting then they told me what it was and I wanted to throw up. I cant believe people eat baby cows!!!

Don't forget they chain them up to prevent the meat from getting more tense. : D

X2! I eat some form of meat every day. Just the other night we had angus beef burgers on the grill....so good. I could never do it myself, but I respect vegetarians. Vegans, though, I think are just nutty :D

Vegetarians I can understand, cause I go through that phase sometimes where I just don't like meat. Vegans, on the other hand...

i suggest you put a little pepper and salt on your spaghetti sauce. and try if yo can saute a little onion and garlic before putting in the meat and the sauce

And make them drink lots of beer. Kobe beef is excellent in spite of preparation methods.

I should start a group to counter PETA. I'll call it PETA: People Eating Tasty Animals.
