guitar problems ... grinder?

ok.. one of the fine tuners on my KE1 is flopping loose... its still attached, but 1 side is loose, it doesn't tune any more (meaning the fine tuner).

know the problem?  or should I just try to restring that string?
I am baffled as to  how/why/when  this happened.   >:(

Uhm, I'll be up next weekend, but will be busy the entire 30th. Maybe I can swing by on the 31st and take a look at it? I can't really diagnose what you're talking about from the description.
