Half-Life series (A reflection of my experience)

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Tonight, I have finished the so-far final chapter in the Half-Life series, "Half-Life 2: Episode Two" and I have to say, MAN! I wish Episode Three was here already! I want more! I spent the past 4 weeks playing Half-Life non-stop. From HL1 to HL2 E2. I wanted to learn everything I could about it. Here's the results:

Fantastic from start to finish...Valve really out did themselves on this series. Epic would be an understatement to describe the storyline.

It's the Matrix/Star Wars/Godfather/Pirates of the Carribean/HALO in terms of Epic Trilogy.

I'm happy that I finally got off my butt and finished these AMAZING games. I can see why this game series had so many awards and praises.

Prettiest FPS visually is the Half-Life 2 series. The water effects and detail to every object and people's faces are priceless.

Here's to Gordon Freeman, truly a "Duke Nukem" of his own game, but more so, a silent Hero.

Yes it is a very great series well worth the time to play every single on of them...

except blue shift which to me is pointless

True, but it's meant to be a "What If" scenario, which I always enjoy =)

Half Life is easily one of the best series ever made. I remember getting the anthology pack for getting straight A's in the fifth grade lol. I have been hooked ever since.

hmm...i remeber playin half life back in...2000...i think...at my cousins...

didnt know what it was but i liked it and it seemed different for some reason...

but ever since then i got obsessed with it and started to make headcrabs outta legos and stuff and took crowbars and hit things...

but then i played half life 2 and then i got the orange box and was thinking...hmm...maybe i should get half life and play it so i know what goes on

and then i was like =O its the game!!

Am I the only one who HATES the Half-Life series?

I've tried to like it. I've really tried to like Half-Life, Opposing Force, Half-Life 2, Lost Coast, Episode 1, and Episode 2.

The puzzle solving is fairly annoying. There is the feeling of lack of direction throughout the game. The "Wow, you're Gordan Freeman, therefore you are amazing!" dialog gets very overdone.

I simply can't seem to find ANY enjoyment out of the Half-Life series.

I agree with you on the Gordon Freeman praise, it is a little OTT at times.

I've loved it since it came out and have played through all the games, including the add-on packs, and I rank it as one of my fav series of all time. The only thing I hate about the series is the fact Valve had made us wait so long for Episode 3. It is ridiculous. I'd rather they finished the HL2 series instead of making Left4Dead sequels. >:(

I have been trying to keep playing through Half-Life 2: Episode 2, but I cannot. The game really has no appeal. I am trying really really hard to tough it out and see if there is part of the game I like, but really, there just isn't.

I have gone as far as the area where striders are coming in from the saw mill with hunters. The game is just infuriating. Here, use these Magnisan explosive devices to kill the striders. Oh, we forgot to tell you that the hunters target the explosive devices whenever you pick them up.

In the distance, the striders seem like such a threat; they're really not even as annoying as the hunters constantly getting in Freeman's face though.

Yeah i didnt much like episode 2 myself because of that point.

You should play ep 1. more action in it that that. more enclosed spaces.

I beat the first Half-Life but needed help to beat Half-life 2 from my bro who dominated those games! he is an amazing gamer!

I played the second one for Xbox. It was one of the best games I have ever played.

Me too. I have only played Half Life 2. I really like the whole strategy aspect of it. It's a really great game
