HALO Combat Evolved HD Remake confirmed for this Holiday season (10th Anniv.)

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
From Ico to God of War to Sly to Beyond Good & Evil, the PlayStation 3 is currently being inundated by high definition ports of classic PS2 games. The Xbox 360? Notsomuch.

"I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea," Microsoft Game Studios Corporate Vice President Phil Spencer told IGN. "I'm going to think about it from the customer's perspective, and are we really delivering something of value to the customer at a price that they want?"

"We obviously have a lot of new things going on, so the thought of re-doing a bunch of things is probably difficult to just weave into the overall portfolio. If you can provide real value to the customer, there could be possibilities for that, but I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it."

Really? We wish you would. Sega's offerings of games like Crazy Taxi are OK, but some bigger, boxed games from Microsoft's own studios would be better. A HD remake of Halo 1 - complete with Xbox Live multiplayer - is an obvious wish, but shiny versions of Project Gotham Racing 2 and Fable would also be great, thanks!

Re: HD Re-releases of Halo 1? Not likely, but...

The above suggested games for a re-release are ones I'd happily get my hands on. That said, I own the orignal's, and it's just a HD upgrade. The gameplay and stuff is al just as great as it once was, so unles they're adding a new feature, or something big, I can't see much other reason to bother.

That said, I'd probably ghet it just because o_o ...

Re: HD Re-releases of Halo 1? Not likely, but...

I'm personally getting tired of these HD remakes. Mostly because they're not really remakes but just re-releases with bumped up resolutions. If they're not going to put the type of effort Capcom gave with the original Resident Evil, then I don't think it should be done.

I really wish Ico and SotC would've been true remakes. Especially after playing CastleVania: Lords of Shadow.

Joystiq has learned that the previously rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved will indeed launch this holiday season for Xbox 360 with a full visual overhaul. Sources explain that the re-release is not Bungie's 2001 Xbox game simply running at a higher resolution -- it's being remade with new art assets. While Halo's audio will likely remain unaltered, the controls will allow for more recent Halo configurations.

The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is allegedly being developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind TimeShift and Namco's upcoming Inversion, but we've been unable to confirm the nature of the engine powering it. We understand that it's something other than the Reach engine.

The Halo: Combat Evolved update, one of two Halo games currently in development under the watchful eye of 343 Industries, is expected to support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions. Details on multiplayer are supposedly still being worked out, but we understand the remake will likely feature online co-op (the original game supported two-player split-screen co-op).

The game is expected to re-evolve on November 15, 2011, ten years after Halo: Combat Evolved launched alongside the Xbox. Our sources didn't know of any plans to similarly upgrade the recently disconnected Halo 2, but it's hard to imagine Microsoft playing favorites with its biggest franchise.

Oh they want money...and it's coming for the 10th Anniversary this Holiday season. Nov 15th, 2011.

To all above post before mega's second one. Your agruement has become invalid. =D

Also i think that if i had an xbox it would be a nice addition to my gaming library since its not just a hd remake and is going to be completely overhauled. hmm...

At least i hope they stick to actually making it a overhauled game like they say.

TimeShift was a game that got good reviews but just didn't sell very well, IIRC.

I'm kind of iffy on this, though. Guess we'll see how it is when it comes out.

I`m personally so exited for this i`m all ready looking for when i can preorder this! :P probably just bacause im a huge halo fan.

I hear that GameStop's trying to do that "They're only releasing it in limited numbers" crap with this game. ::)

I hope not because I don't know if I want to get it, but if I decide I do, I'd like to be able to find it.

It's Halo, it mass produces faster than rabbits and stray cats. :P

I want this bad! But I do wonder how much better it will actually look than the PC version run at high res?

Have you seen the videos? It will look a LOT better. Halo Anniversary looks like a modern 2010-2011 console game, Halo PC even maxed out is still at its core a 2001 game.

Yeah, it came out today, right?

I STILL don't have an xbox 360 (and am STILL looking for a better job so I can change that).

I was really hoping that there would be a limited edition Halo Anniversary console that would come with the game since I missed the Reach limited edition last year.
