Alright, I know I'm way behind the curve on this, but I finally got to play a PS3 the other day, and all I have to say is, wow. I was lucky enough to pay EA Fight Night and Motorstorm, and it definitely blew my socks off. Motorstorm felt slow (mostly because Burnout has taught me how ADD a racing game can be) but it was incredibly fun. Ramming into another vehicle felt surprisingly visceral, and taking jumps in the first person mode was a sight to behold. From a distance the game looked photo-realistic. It was sublime.
EA Fight Night was just ridiculous, in a good way. When I first saw another chap playing it I thought he was watching a CG cut scene. It really did look that good. First person mode in that game was also incredible. It felt like a boxing match, you could visibly see swollen eyes, bloody gums, and even I felt the impact when I punched my opponent in the face. It was incredibly rewarding to leave him in a bloody mess, and I even felt somewhat exhausted after the match. It was a smorgous board for my eyes.
I also played NBA 2K7, which really sucked. The graphics were neat, but reall underwhelming. Plus the game itself played horribly, it really was a terrible choice for demoing the PS3.
All in all I can safely say that whoever can afford a 60" Widescreen 720p TV, 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, a PS3 console and Resistance: Fall of Man probably considers it money well spent.
