Have You changed In Your Gaming Tastes Over The Years?

Have you changed over the years in your gaming tastes, as far as genre goes, since you became a gamer? If it has been a drastic change, what do you contribute that to? Advancement in technology? Changes in game design? New genre that filled the hunger?

I started with a Commodore 64, then 16-bit consoles. Mainly I'm a space shooter, arcade, gamer. With a little platforming thrown in. Certain arcade type racers capture my attention. I really haven't changed much in my taste. I still love the same genres as in the beginning except RPGs. I never took an interest or thought I would like them. I tried them in my PS1 days and liked them. I have been trying to go back and capture the 16 RPG days ever since.
 
Honestly? Not much at all. I grew up with Commodore 64, Atari, Sega Master System, and NES. I still enjoy Hack n' Slash games like Gauntlet, my run n gunners like Contra or Ikari Warriors and it's many many clones. I still enjoy the action/adventure games like Prince of Persia compared to the likes of Aladdin from Genesis lol My FPS I still adore since Wolfenstien 3D. Except my love of fighting games has swayed a bit over the years, I was crazy about them and now I don't get into them as much as I used to.
 
Not really. I pretty much just love what I always have which is adventure, survival horror, and rpg's.
 
I used to exclusively play RPGs, but now I really don't have the time for them.

PS. It's been a long time since I've been on the site it's nice to be back.
 
I think my tastes have sort of changed over the years, along time again i would never have played a fps/3rd person =) i used to play pretty much rpg's and platform games -like jak and daxtar- or adventrue games -tomb raider-. It wasn't untill i brought my xb360 that i think it sort of changed i brought halo 3 -i had played the other 2 on the xbox with my brother but i sucked worse back then to- i sucked really badley at it as first, friends use to laugh at me while playing multi-player. Now tho i will try out most games now, i still prefer rpgs or puzzle type games but im really addicted to killzone 2 atm which is unusal for me
 
i think my gaming taste has changed only once...... before RPGs i was more fighting/adventure... after i discovered how awesome RPGs are.... well now is more about RPGs xD
 
That's a good question.

rpg's are still my fav,but I've been getting into games like "GTA","Saints Row","Hit Man" over the course of a couple years.I'm almost forced to,the PS3 although it's backwards compatible and there several PS1(I hope you all have better luck than I do finding some of the better games from that console.)and PS2 games I still love.

But again,The RPG selection,currently for the PS3 blows chunks,in the truest sense of the term. :hh
 
My taste has gotten broader over the years. I used to only like platformers and action/adventure games.

Then I discovered rpgs and first-person shooters. Awesomeness. ^_^
 
I wouldn't say my gaming taste has changed it's gotten broader as I have experienced new genres but the genres I hated when I first tried them sports and racing still do and I still love my strategy and fps games which were genres of games I started out playing.
