How does the gamecube compare to Xbox and PS2

Granted... you must like the Gamecube somewhat if you are looking in this forum.... BUT how do you think the Cube compares to the Xbox and the ps2?

Post up what you think :)

I like it better than the PS2 and about equal to the XBOX.

My personal list of pros and cons for the Gamecube:

Pros
-Nintendo franchises, especially Zelda
-Wavebirds are pure ownage over other controllers
-4 controller ports for multiplayer fun
-Innovative use of peripherals in games such as LoZ: FSA, FF: CC, and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
-Small and easy to take places
-Game Boy Player
-Is just a game machine

Cons
-Needs more variety of games

so you like the system being just a game machine?
as opposed to a DVD player..etc?

My only real beef with Nintendo is there's no online. Of course, that's almost a good thing, cuz a lot of multiplayer games on Xbox that are online are only multiplayer online. Want to play some Tom Clancy: Raven Shield with 4 friends in the same house, think again. Want to play some 8 player Crimson Skies via system link, then you'll need 4 tv's and 4 Xboxes. Online is a nice extra, but it shouldn't be mandatory.
 
I agree with Nephlabobo

All tho i love my gc i think the ps2 is much much better, more variaties of games, but i guess the gc has wat the ps2 doesn't

I have no comment on the x-box to compair i don't like it, my brothers got 1 apart from a odd few games it doesn't have any good ones

Although I enjoy my GC thouroughly. I like the GC exclusives. And even playing the new Mario games takes me way back. Wonder if they'll ever release a remake of Bionic Commando...
Anyway...I would rank it under PS2..but the NES ranks above X-Box. Still much love for the Big "N".
 
I have owned all three systems at one time or another, and I currently own a GameCube. GameCube for me all the way. It is the only next gen system I will own, AND when the new one comes out I will buy it too.:)

It just has the best games to me.
 
I think it compares about evenly to PS2, but could overtake it if it had a bigger varity of games and (IMO) more RPG's ala Final Fantasy or Dark Cloud.

It beats the Xbox by far. In my opinion, Xbox is terribly overrated.
 
I'd have to disagree with you guys on that. I don't contend the fact that PS2 has more games on it than both the Gamecube or the Xbox, but it doesn't do anything exceptionally well. Gamecube has superb graphics and classic franchises. Xbox has great online the best specs of all three systems(argueably GC is about even, but have you seen anything like Ninja Gaiden on GC?). PS2 has online capability, though not as good as Microsoft's, and has exclusive franchises, though much fewer than Nintendo's. Even with Sony's extensive library there's still only a few diamonds in the rough worth playing, in my opinion anyway.
 
Ah, I see your point. Ya, generally I don't play or care about games like Odama. Games like that are unique and fun, but generally don't hold my attention for too long. Plus, a lot of them don't have very high production values, so even if they have a fun concept they're usually botched somewhere along the way. But I do understand why you like the PS2 more.
 
I want a GameCube just for Pikmin 2...

Haven't played any other games to warrant me getting one, so I'll have to wait or something.
 
The only things I dislike about GC is that it doesn't get enough multiformat games and hasn't got an exclusive AAA car racing game and an exclusive AAA FPS. It would have been good to have even had Sega GT. I originally bought my GC for Perfect Dark 0, so it's understandable that I would have liked something to replace it. And no..Timesplitters 2 hasn't filled the void :\

Have you played Metroid Prime 2? OME, it is incredible. Definitely better than Halo.

well... there are a lot of multi-format games... could you give examples of what you are looking for or what types? As for the AA car racing games.... Burnout 2 :D
There are a few great FPS games... and 1 really good one coming out:

As for Perfect Dark 0.... it doesn't matter what system you have... that game is not coming out for A LOOOOONNNGGG time. They are even saying on Xbox 2 now.
Honestly.... I don't think perfect dark 0 is going to fill your void though.

While Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are cool... they are not Halo killers (although they look just as good IMO... if not a little better). BUT... you gotta remember.... they are 2 different style games. MP is not a FPS in the general sense.

Are you looking for odd and unique games? Try Cubivore.... or Ultimate Muscle.
