Hi Everyone,

I'm just curious as to why some games like the "Final Fantasy" series title numbers don't correlate with the one's we receive. For example in North America we have "Final Fantasy III" for the "SNES,it's also on "Final Fantasy:Anthology" for the "PS1".Why is it in Japan under a different Title number?

Because Final Fantasy III here was the third Final Fantasy released in the U.S. The same game was the sixth in the series which was released in Japan, so they called it Final Fantasy VI there.

By the time the original was brought to the US, the NES was pretty much dead, so they left out II and III from here. Then, V was deemed too hard(much like Super Mario Bros. 2) for the US, so they left it out as well.

Kind of like how Seiken Densetsu 3 in Japan is Secret of Mana 2 in the states. Seiken Densetsu 2 was a Gameboy game that never came stateside, hence the different numbering.
