I hate RAM

Ok pretty sad story so for those under 14 do not read :lol Anyways, I was playing World of Warcraft one day and asked how I could recude lag, and everyone said to get more RAM, so I thanked them and read up on what RAM was and how to install it. I found out what kind of RAM I needed and bought it online. So far so good right? Well first, UPS delivers it 3 days late, then, I try to put it in and after I do and tirn on the PC it makes a beeping noise and crashes. Turns out my RAM slots can't handle 1g of RAM in one slot, so now I gotta return the original purchase, which will take about 3 days total, order a set of two 512mg RAM chips, and wait for deliuvery, which could take anywhere from 3-7 days, all because I forgot to get the 512 X 2 combo instead of a big 1g chip. :'(

Yea that seriously blows...They have these little programs online that will scan your pc and tell you exactly how much RAM each slot will hold and a bunch of other info on your pc. A little late for that now I guess :-\

um...

They said get ram to get rid of the lag problems?

What lag problems did you have?  IE was it choppy video wise?  was it actual connection lag?  or what was it?

How much ram do you have?

Bv :hat

wait are you saying you tryed to install it in a ram slot with your computer still on? wow lol that bites > > > i baught 1gig for my ram upgrade and world of warcraft still laggs due to lacking in video card . . . i waisted my cash lol

I meant what video card do you have. And just to remind you, if your board supports dual channel memory you need 2 of the exact same memory modules to activate dual channel mode :)

If it's integrated video it's on the motherboard. An actual video card goes into a slot on your motherboard, like an AGP or PCI-E slot. You can run dxdiag to find out exactly what you have.

Depending on the type of "lag" you have, RAM may not help at all. If you're getting occasional pauses and stuttering and constantly accessing your hard disk while playing (sometimes known as disk thrashing) yet you have a good framerate when it doesn't pause, then RAM will help. If you're experiencing low framerates, try upgrading video drivers. If that doesn't help, a GPU upgrade could be required. Most games don't use the processor much once getting into higher resolutions, but your processor could potentially be a problem as well. And, as always, your internet connection may not be able to handle the stress WoW puts on it and that could cause lag. That would be if you appear to, for example, walk around a tree then suddenly appear back in front of the tree ready to walk around it again or if others jump around a lot.

I recommend you defragment your hard drive and update all your drivers if you haven't already, that may help a bit.
