Hi guys,

My name is Remo and I'm from Scotland. I'm an avid gamer and currently in my final year at university writing up my dissertation.

So I was hoping you guys could help me...

My dissertation is on Video game addiction, a topic that has fascinated me ever since I heard doctors can't decide whether it actually is an addiction. To be more specific my dissertation aims to find out what games addiction addiction is and whether it is something that is harmful and also to find if there is anything game developers can do to help the process.

All I ask from all you kind folk is to fill in this very brief questionnaire for me. Only 6 questions, won't take 5 minutes.

I took it and it asks for no personal information to complete the survey. I see no harm in taking it beyond how the information will be used.

The problem with the survey, IMO, is that it's already inherently biased to make any gamer look bad, since they are coming from the point of view that gaming is an addiction. I mean really anything can be detrimental when not done in moderation. But I took it as well and the last question is "Has gaming ever affected your social life?" I expect that they believe that people will answer something that paints them as a nonsocial hermit stuck in mom's basement.

So I decided to mess with them while still being honest about it and answered: "Yes, I've made new friends because we both like the same game." :lol

I've taken lots of quizzes and IMO the original poster or the person who created this one would benefit more if the quiz was tweaked so that it's not so biased to begin with.
 
I never answer any survey in which the INSTITUTION or UNIVERSITY is not clearly identified. If it is not clearly identified, it could be for a marketing company or for a news source trying to misrepresent gamers.
