Inner Child

I don't know if this has been touched upon already, but if it was my apologies. There is a lot of people out there that still think that video games are childish.Technically video games are toys I guess,it can be looked upon in many different ways.I feel they are not just toys, they provide great entertainment and make for great pastimes.Besides,a bunch of adults don't mind overpaying for a hot dog and for what a baseball stadium calls beer at $5 a glass.

I think keeping in touch with your inner child is very important,it keeps you from becoming killjoy as well as a strong sense of satisfaction from completing tough games such as "Resident Evil 4" or the "Mega Man" series.Whoever was in charge of adjusting the difficulty for these games should be put in prison. :)

What's your take?

Well, I can't speak for anybody else, but for me personally, I don't care if people think I am childish for playing videogames! I know for a fact I will play video games until the day I die, and if I can, I will play them in the afterlife, too :D I see a lot of video games as art forms, and they stem lots of creative ideas in me; so I don't see how that can be a bad thing? Most people who say this bologne don't even play video games, so it's hard to take what they say even slightly serious.

My take is that there is a lot more than simple entertainment to video games. Watching television is far less engaging. Playing video games is about hand eye coordination, reflexes, and problem solving. Just like anything, too much of it can be a bad thing. That being said, do what makes you happy. If you like LARPing then by all means do it. Who cares what other people think? Playing video games is far from a simple toy these days.

i know i am childish. i still giggle when ever someone says do do, (as in " i don't do this, but i do do that). i love my games, if playing games makes me childsh, then i will be childish until the day i die. being mature is all well and good, but if you can't laugh and have fun with whatever you are doing then your life isn't really worth living.

I'm totally a child at heart. ^_^

Ummm.... sorry.
I like being young at heart.

Playing games isn't "childish" in the slightest. I would love to see an adult take a crack at something like Ninja Gaiden, then tell us games are for kids. :p

Games are no more toys than movies. Some may be directed at a younger audience, but many are far more thought-provoking than half the garbage that comes out of Hollywood (Bioshock comes to mind here).
