Intriguing Nintendo trademark patent files.

Nintendo files intruiging new trademarks.

CVG reported some enigmatic new filings Nintendo made recently with the Japanese patent office, so you know what that means -- time to play Guess That Trademark! Said new trademarks are as follows: Mii Contest Channel, Mii Audition, Nintendo Magic, Wii Body Controller, Wii Handle, and (seriously) Soma Bringer. And fans of militaristic flower creatures will be happy to hear they renewed their Pikmin trademark, as well.
Some of these are self-descriptive; Mii Contest Channel is obviously a new channel with Mii-related contests, perhaps having something to do with whatever Mii Audition is and the recently announced Check Mii Out channel (or perhaps they're all one and the same?). We'll go with the consensus that Wii Body Controller is a possible new name for the Wii Fit Balance Board revealed at E3 in July, and Nintendo Magic is the U.S. title for Magic Taizen, a Japanese DS game that teaches various magic tricks (much more useful in life than solid arithmetic skills and a good vocabulary). Soma Bringer? We won't even try.

As for Wii Handle, "handle" is a term for an online username, lending hope to a possible revamping of the WFC Friend Code system, but with Nintendo, it could literally be a Wii handle.

There's also the possibility some of these will never amount to anything at all; it's not outside the norm for companies to file trademarks with no intentions beyond simply securing them. Surely you remember Guitar Villain? Still, nice to see Nintendo showing at least some renewed interest in the Pikmin franchise.

I think it would be cool if the Wii handles were usernames. :)
