Just doing a little RESEARCH: your opinion is needed

okay here it is. buy games at a store vs over the net.

the up side of the store is that you get your games right then and there.

I know, like in my case sometimes i plain dont have the time to go to the store or after work dont really feel like fighting the traffic and the people. on top of that gas money and state tax that i could get away with not paying.

So what are your guys’ opinions? Is waiting that few days for shipping a deal breaker?

Hmmm...

Internet

Pros:
Fast buying
No driving
Less money spent on gas

Cons:
Have to wait a few days
Have to pay for shipping
Could be scammed.

vs

Store

Pros:
Quicker
Less likely to get scammed
Better selection perhaps

Cons:
Gas money
May not have it on stock
May be more expensive than some deals online.

Good debate but I prefer store over internet.

well what if it wasnt a matter of money. there are those sites that sell them for the same price as you would get them in store even with shipping.

Yeah, stores are better. Quicker, no shipping and handling, no chance of being damaged on the way to your home.

About the same as GM here. The only difference is that I disagree about stores having a better selection. The Internet is king of selection. You can find anything you want on it. If it's in a store, it's on the Internet somewhere.

And it's a LOT easier to shop around online than it is to shop around in person. If you know exactly what you want, I suggest getting it in person after calling around to find the cheapest price. Otherwise, go online.

Depends on if I know what I want versus impulse buying. I will never impulse buy on the net. I actually hate buying from places like Ebay and whatnot, and I usually stick to places that I know I can trust. But the upside is I can usually find items that are almost impossible to find in stores.

When it comes to stores, I like going to mom-&-pop shops like used books stores that also sell games. I find the best deals there. But I hate buying from places like Walmart.

Shipping and handling...

...
...Store.

BUT

theres a lot of things you can find online that you cant find in the store. I suggest that if they dont have it in the store, surf the web.

actually... I take advantage of both.

for computer equipment... Internet hands down. I have bought a handful of things locally in the last 4 years. On the net.. I've bought a few thousand worth.

For movies --> The Store.
For games... the store... unless it's retro, then online. Still... buying games from the store... I hate it.
Clothes --> the store, definitely.
Groceries --> the store, although a couple companies tried online ordering.
Papa John's Pizza --> online ordering works rather well.
TVs... --> store (or any other big ticket electronics.
Guitar equipment --> look at it in store... order new from the manufacturer / company. Why? I don't buy anything sitting in a guitar store except for sealed cables. (I know, I'm picky... just too many idiots who don't know how to handle guitar equipment)

There are other scenarios as well. But lately, I have been buying more locally than on the Internet.
