Ouch. No wonder people are worried. To put that in perspective, GameStop alone has more than 4000 stores. If only GameStop were to receive PS3s, that would still only be 100 per store. But then you factor in that they're also going to be sent to Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. That's not a very large allocation no matter how you look at it.
Yeah, I have a feeling the launch demand is going to be at least as high as it was for the 360, and it looks like the supply will be just low if not lower.
We did our reservations for the PS3 yesterday. My particular store was allocated 16, as were a few other stores in my district. Some stores were only allocated 8, though. So that's not that bad, but those 16 were gone in less than half an hour.
Some people really want to get the PS3. Personally, if I wanted it, I would rather not go nuts trying to get one ASAP and wait until the supply meets the demand.
