i like desktops better but i use a laptop more cause thats all my family has.

but next summer were getting new desktop w/ vista and highspeed and then ill get xbl too.

then once i get a job (end of next summer) im going to get my own alienware! :D excited

It really depends. A desktop is better for gaming overall, due to parts swapping, if that's what you're looking for, but a Laptop can be taken anywhere.

I'm not a fan of laptops. Unless you pay the extra for a really great battery, it's not worth it.

Alienware is far overrated. I mean to tell you. You're paying thousand more than you would have to if you bought the parts and assembled it, or had someone assemble your computer for you.

I was a fan of alienware for awhile as well.

Desktops are better for high end gaming most definitely. I'm just warning you not to overpay for a peice of plastic.

finding a good laptop is hard these days. I think ibuypower has some they prebuild on customer specifications (for far less than alienware)

and hines, that's why you buy a mouse =\

Avoid IBuyPower if you can. Sure, they may have decent prices, but you definitely get what you pay for.

If you're going for a laptop, get a Dell with one of the coupons to save a ton. That's what I did, and my laptop still beats most gaming computers.

Except that dells have horrible bios and all the ram speeds are stuck at 533 or is it 667mhz... Yeh, dells aren't really a gamers friend. And dell desktops (minus the xps series) are all btx proprietary computers with hardly any room for an upgrade :D

Yeah, try making your own laptop. Go for it, I'd love to see you fail. And please, tell me how much of a difference you notice between 667MHz and 800MHz. A frame per second or two? Yeah, not really worth it considering the fact that laptops aren't meant to best full desktop systems at gaming.

I was talking about the Dell laptops which, despite your unnecessary hatred against Dell, still take high marks for their performance. XPS series is a complete waste, if someone wants to game on a desktop PC they should build it themselves. There's really no alternative, unless they feel like wasting money for trash.

Well, in response. I was talking about higher ram speeds. 1066 opposed to 533. I wouldn't want to make my own laptop really. Not really any use to me besides the macbook i own for audio editing. Maybe I'm just not a laptop person. I don't like the price difference between a laptop and a pc when the latter performs exceedingly better for less money. =\ I guess it would be cheaper to buy a pre-built laptop...you win.

Don't go for an Alienware...
Sure they're cool and stuff, but u can easily go to a specialist and get the same quality for like at least $1,000 less.
