Freeze Sucka
My xbox hasint been working exceptionally lately.... The disk tray refuses to eject so I must use the Manuel eject. I can deal with that I guess but what I cant deal with is this. My Xbox does not read my games when I put them in. When I turn my xbox on it will sound and look like its on (humming and green light) but it wont show up on the television screen all the time. I have to continuously press the power button over and over until it finally starts up. Some times it starts up on the second try but us ally I have to press that little power button a good 50 times before it starts up. PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP....JUST TELL ME WHATS GOING ON AND HOW TO FIX IT!!! :? >:( :? >:(

Hmm.... Sounds like your Xbox has a severe problem. How old is the Xbox? You may be able to call 1-800-4MYXBOX (1-800-469-9269) and tell them about your problem.

If you're out of warranty, it could require costly repairs or a new Xbox.

yikes man... that sounds pretty nasty. Did you ever open your Xbox? Ever have it modded?

BTW..welcome to the boards :) We're glad to have you here! PLease enjoy your stay.

Re: XBOX PROBLEMZ

Do you still have a warranty on it? I'm not joking either. That happened to my friend's brother's system because his brother kept it on the floor and after a couple years dust had clogged up the fan. This melted something inside that basically meant that 50% of the time it would work, or it would just load the disc (make the humming noise and such), and nothing would happen. Eventually it just got down to 0%. We opened it up (which is extremely hard to do, and voids the warranty btw) and found out that it was literally fried.

I don't know if this is what happened to you, but my friend also had to use a butterknife to open and close the system tray right before that started happening, so I'm willing to bet its the same thing. If you still can, just send it in to get fixed (though a lot of the time its a crappy job, so you'd be better off exchanging it for a new one).

How about that power cable problem.........do you think it fried your xbox?
Good point. I didn't think the faulty cables ruined the console, I just thought they were a fire hazard. I didn't really read into it though as my Xbox didn't need one.

Yeah.. I dont think its my power cord because the system still starts up but the game just doesint show up on the screen. Its not my video/audio cords ethier becuz i bought new ones for my surround sound sys.

did you mod the system at all? that could be a critical point...

Did you try calling support on the issue? It sounds like you are going to have to send it back.
I hope you didn't mod it though... otherwise you might have some problems.

No I didint mod it and yes im going to call tech support once I get back to my Xbox and know all the serial numbers on it so they can identify it. I think if they are going to ask me to send it it im not becuz I would rather just wait for the xbox2 or xbox360 to come out, instead of dropping 150 + the cash on a xbox2. :o

sounds like a plan to me.

Did you initially buy the system new? If so, it should be under warranty (if not too many days past it.)

Though it's not... you know... accepted by the local government...

Do you still have the box that your Xbox came in? If so, take it to a store saying that you received it for your birthday, opened it up, and it doesn't work, and you want to exchange it for a new one.

People do that with controllers all the time.

Where do you have your Xbox stored when its being played? And do you leave it plugged in all the time. Also do you know which DVD drive it has in it?

*adds to Dr_Ackula's list* Does the eject button at the front of the Xbox console flash any sort of color, or does it stay solid green? Do you receive sound, but not video? Or do you get nothing when you power it on?

Yeah I tried that wit one of thoses compressed air cans and it seemed to clean it out.. But didint do any good otherwise. I did how ever get a letter in the mail informing me that my xbox's power cord is dangerous and faulty and that they are going to send me a new one, since my xbox was made in a certain time period where the had problems. BUT I dont think its gonna fix by overall problem...
