Man, the PS3 doesn't get any love...

From the GameFAQs poll today at about 4:45.

Got PS3?
Yes, I got mine on launch day 1.89% 1080

Yes, after the launch day 6.24% 3575

No, it hasn't launched here yet 6.12% 3507

No, and I won't until it's under $400 41.61% 23837

No, I just don't want one 44.14% 25288

TOTAL VOTES 57287

I found this a little shocking. GameFAQs has a large, diverse member base and still 45% don't want a PS3 and 42% won't buy one until there is a $200 price drop on it.

Granted, this is just a poll, but GameFAQs is one of the biggest gaming websites period, and the PS3 just got destroyed in the polls there. Less than 10% even have a PS3, that is an impressive figure.

It reminds me of when I heard people say, "Sega sucks." Sony makes a great system. It's a tad expensive right now, but it looks like Sony is getting the same stigma that Sega got in the 90s. And for absolutely no reason too.

I guess it is true. If you forget history, it's bound to repeat it's self.

In my opinion, the system isn't bad, the offering of exclusives games is.

But really, I wonder if they may drop the price much earlier than is usual for systems to increase sales. If these figures extend to the whole gaming population, Sony is going to come in distant last in this console war. Only 15% of the gaming population wanting one is not good news. That leaves 85% for Nintendo and Microsoft to fight for. An even split would put Microsoft and Nintendo a solid 27.5% ahead of Sony.

Well, let's hope that Sony pulls out of their rut, because it seems that all three are pulling in third party support. And I wouldn't want Nintendo and Microsoft to slack off and Sony to pull out. That'll just make for a disapointing generation.

Funny thing is people are still buying them up and when they do come in people buy them right away (unless you live in East Bumble-*). I have all 3 systems and love the PS3. The games will catch up. This happens with all systems, even the DS. It takes all systems 4-6 months before the hot games start to come out!

Its there fault! I reckon if they had launched it when 360' did. There may have been better competion and perhaps their sales would be better. And perhaps if they didn't friggen make it so expensive, people could actually be bothered. Sony have brought this on themselves. Too bad.

If Sony released it with the 360, they would have tanked within a few months. It simply wasn't ready. And they made it expensive because they took a risk of adding a bit of technology that they think will become cheaper as time goes on. And it will. I'm betting that in two years or so, the prices that Sony pays for their processors will drop. And with that they will make a profit on the PS3, and maybe even drop the MSRP.

Bottom line is despite seemingly popular opinion, the PS3 does not suck, and may be a good investment.

As I have said a million times, the PS3 is priced right for what you get. When you add the wireless adapter, the HD-DVD Add-on, and 40GB more to the 20GB HD that comes with the 360; you are now at almost $800.00 for the 360. I love my 360 and consider myself an Xbox Fan Boy over a Sony Fan Boy, but for what you get with the PS3 for $599.99 is a great deal. Give it time, just like all systems. Even the Wii has no games coming out for a while that are good. There is always a dead period after systems are released.

They made a system too ahead of it's time and now, in the eyes of the general gaming community, it sucks. And it does, from a gaming point of view.

It is funny how the "General Gaming Community" is buying them up as soon as they come into the stores though. I love my 360, but the PS3 is right up there now that I own one.

You don't need a wireless gaming adaptor or the HD-DVD drive.

You do not need it, but if you bought it....... Also, I use my wireless for my PS3 and am glad it is built-in. And I like the Blue-Ray and HD-DVD, so I have both of those also. I never said "you need", but if you want the 360 to be the equivalent to what you get with a PS3, then........

I guess if you actually want all the expensive add-ons on the PS3, then more power to you. I'm not surprised at all at the poll's results.

I voted in that poll, under the I DON'T WANT ONE. We have good reason. Why pay $600, plus tax, plus an extra controller, plus games if you are actually going to play it instead of selling it, when you can get Wii (which is much more fun) for a measly $250.00 (around $270.00 with tax). Games are still $49.99, system has good games, and innovative Wii Remote. Or 360, lower price than PS3, better games, and most likely better online. Unless you want a cheap Blu-Ray player, PS3 is just another black box with stuff in it.

Once again, if 10 Million People think this, then why are they buying them up? And do not say for re-sale because they are not reselling for more than MSRP! I am just making a point here. *Also, I love my 360 more than my PS3! And the Wii just stinks until they get the games to use the remotes better!

You keep saying that over and over, which is funny cause nobody ever said they wouldn't! Different people like different things -- and that doesn't make them right or wrong either way.

And this is probably just my area or something, but the last few times I've been into my local Gamestop, there's been a sign on the door stating that they have PS3s in stock.

Well because 10 million people do think this. The Wii outsold the PS3 almost 3 to 1. For every 1 PS3 sold, Nintendo sold 3 Wii's. It's statistics. Buying them up?!? Hardly. You can find a PS3 anywhere. Wii's are scarce. Wii is unique and is something new. PS3 is just another Playstation. Wii uses the new technology to make innovative games. PS3 is the same games with spiffier graphics. Wii has vibration. Sony took that away. Nintendo chose gameplay and fun over graphics and price. PS3 is the opposite. If Wii stinks, the PS3 is abysmal.

Once again, this only reflects the opinions of Jack and about 10 million other people that are Nintendo fans.

Okay, let's break this down. First, there are not 10 million people in the US that care to buy Video Game Systems. That number is off until proven. Second, the Wii outsold the PS3 due to how many systems have been released. There are no PS3 System to be found in my area, TN when I was there, NJ, and so on.... Plus, I have all 3 systems so in my opinion the Wii is at the bottom of the 3. Once again, my opinion. But you cannot quote 10 million people unless you have proof. And if you want vibration, sit on the washing machine. That does not make the game better, it is nice, not necessary. And once again, it may be our age difference that defers our reasons. Younger like Wii, older like PS3 and 360. It is who they market to.

Well, guess I just got told. But how can you prove that the younger people like Wii? Yes, it is very likely due to Nintendo's notoriusly childish system and game appeal. And furthermore... wait nevermind. Lets just end this argument now, I don't like bad relationships with my fellow forum members. Now excuse me while I go sit on a washing machine.
