Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Hello again! Tis I, Mega! Back again like I promised to bring you the exciting conclusion to what happened to the Model 9001 PS1 system.
Now most people are not aware of this, but a Mr. Carmack brought this to my attention about a year ago I believe. These original bigger models had a flaw. Which was actually on the spindal of the eye laser itself, which holds the disc in place. If any of these 4 plastic pieces from the center of the spindal are missing, then the system will have trouble holding it place and reading it at the same time.
So after popping up the hood of the shell casing, we see that the infamous spindel is fully intact. Which perfect, since no transplant shall be needed. However, a piece of long hair was found wrapped along the coil of it. After removing this nasty piece with a pair of needle-nose pilers. It was smooth sailing from then on.
Surprisingly, the interior was very well taken care of and not much requirement to add a little bit of dusting on this particular model.
To bring up the question, why is this one named "9001"? Well, the truth is, Sony made 4 different PS1 models before moving onto the smaller/compact units, named "The PSOne".
Their names were 1001, 5501, 7501, and 9001. With each model, they removed something either hardware or operating system related.
One example, Model 5501 added the groovy techno colors whenever you wanted to play a music CD. Simply press "Select" on the controller pad and watch the show begin!
To tell their names, simply look at the bottom of the PS1 and read the label that begins with "SCPH-XXXX". X= Number.
Well as for SCPH-9001 that I just finished, proudly works like a champ. I just tested it with SOUL BLADE and MEGAMAN X4 for about an 1 hour now. I was very surprised that I didn't even need to improve or add anything to it's current status.
Looks like people do take care of their ladies. I can't really think of a good name for her, but I think I will let my readers decide on this one.
