MMORPG's On the next gen systems

...And Thy Will Be Done
I was just wondering if you guys think that MMO's will take more of a role in the consoles now that hard drives are becoming more common within the console markets? And if not will this hurt MMO's popularity among fans?

IMO they won't do real well on consoles.

Controller wise... it is hard to be in depth on them. Even though Phantasy STar Online on the Gamecube was awesome..... you need the Ascii keyboard controller to really play it well online. Searching through all the menus can be a bear as well while fighting bosses..etc. You end up dead before you can fire off that important spell that had to be tucked away from your quicklist.

we'll have to see though... many people do not mind thi sstyle of game with a standard controller.

Bv :hat

Speaking of PS3 and MMORPG's but Sony is rumored to dish out the most money to Blizzard to snag the rights to World of Warcraft. Yet I feel this is silly, I feel X360 has a better chance of winning, since they did a better job with FFXI.

However, most MMORPG's translated from PC don't work out as well. EQ had a rough start on the PS2..took forever to get it just right.

There are several in the works for the 360, some look pretty good. Hopefully they will all have voice chat, eliminating the need for a keyboard.

I personally would love a solid mmo on a console, I would have bought FFXI for ps2 but i didn't want to shell out for the hard drive, I also heard about the bugs and other downsides. I have WOW and I love it, eventhough its my first and only mmo i've really come to love the genre and would appreciate it on console!
