My GBSP Warm Fuzzies

retro junkie

All You bases are belong to us.
I have not kept up with Video Game magazines in recent years, nor have I relentlessly searched the Internet for info. But I have in recent months come to the conclusion, or finally accepted the fact, especially with the release of the DSi, that the Game Boy Advance has quietly left the building. I have found myself looking back at this amazing little gaming machine in much the same way as I have of the SNES. I personally feel that the SNES is the best Video gaming console that Nintendo has, thus far, produced. And my feelings have matured in the same way toward the Game Boy SP Bright. For me, 2D gaming is were its at. The GBSP is all about 2D gaming in much the same way as the SNES was. The small portable is just right to fit into your pocket and it has one great library of games, and that is hundreds of games if you count the backward compatibility it has with the Original and Color games. No matter what your taste is, you will find something to waste and occupy your time. Even though I have a DS, I spend more time with the GBSP. I do find myself playing more of the Original and the Advance carts than I do of the Color. And I am now considering increasing my game library with titles of the Original Game Boy. I have found myself fascinated with the fun that can be found in those, four shades of gray, simple games.

I know that some of you might think that I have brain damage, and please understand that I love my DS, but I consider my GBSP Bright Nintendo's best portable with the GB Pocket running second.

Do any of you find those warm fuzzies for the GBSP?

i still own my original SP and it works really well which is why i have no problems with buying a DSi, however i feel like some DS games feel like a GBA with updated graphics and gameplay so i think i can get over the death of the GBASP

Funny, just the other day I was looking at GBA SP's online and thinking about getting one, again. Not just to play GB and GBC games, but I really love the SP itself and I regret selling mine. I love my DS, but I miss having the SP.

I will forever remember my GBA as the system that I played Golden Sun on. :D My first GBA SP, however, I don't remember very well. All I know is that I have the NES style one now. :D

*is jealous* :P

The Advance was based on SNES hardware anyway, which is why it had so many ports of SNES games, just as the Game Boy was based on the NES and the DS on the N64. It's fair to assume their next handheld will be technically similar to the GameCube.

The SP is and always will be a gem.
