Does anyone know anything about the new Napster. I know they charge a monthly fee for unlimited downloads, I was wondering if anyone knew how much it is. Also, once you download the songs, are they yours?

Im looking for any info on the Napster service, I tried looking at their website and it doesnt do a good job...

Wow..that's a word I haven't heard in a long time. I have no idea, but I've heard the same thing. I just don't know how much content they have, which is really the key for a service like that.

Well my friends college lets them all have an account and it looked like they had everything organized by album. Im just wondering if they have restrictions on downloading or something...

Wow..didn't even know that Napster was still around. Monthly payments to download? Pfft..there are other ways to by pass this.

yeah i know, i just dont mind paying for the songs when they come like they do with napster. and its so much easier to find them by album than limewire or whatever

Some songs are just singles. I just use NFO sites to see what's out and stuff.

Napster is now legal, so colleges should not be banning it anymore.

i know its not banned. i meant once you download the song can you put it on as many mp3 players and whatnot

Ive heard a lot of people have problems putting mp3's they downloaded onto their Ipods because of itunes........i wonder if napster causes problems too.

That's because they both have their own type of DRM (Digital Rights Management). It's supposed to prevent illegal sharing. It's embedded into the MP3 itself. The iPod can play any MP3 that is either free from DRM (ie. songs you rip yourself from your own CD's) or bought from the iTunes music store.

The only negative thing I've heard about places like Napster is that once you cancel your subscription you can no longer listen to the MP3's on your computer. Obviously, there can be a way around this but that's all Ive heard.

yeah thats what im thinking. is there any way you can convert the mp3 to the itunes ext or something

You can try to burn the songs as an audio CD and then rip them again using iTunes. Otherwise I don't think so.
