Neversoft says "never more" to Tony Hawk. Who will save the dying series? Let's face it, Proving Grounds, was Proving Doodoo! Skate killed the Hawk Star!

FINALLY >_< it was about time it got the boot, but to be honest i did like it back in the ps1 days and underground was good

I wouldn't say Skate killed it, but more like there was nothing much left to do in Tony Hawk. 10 years is a nice run.

Agreed. Gameplay-wise though, I'll take THUG any day.

its not suprising they have been releasing them forever, i admit tho that i like the series tho by the end of the it they where getting really crap compared to the original ones the new ones just didn't bring anything new to them

OMG that brings back so many memories. I still have THPS1 and 2. After 3 though, the series went to the toilet imo.

I think the series still has potential, just not in Activision's eyes. The problem with the Tony Hawk series was that they were releasing a new version every year, whether or not there was a substantial amount of content/innovation to warrant a new version. Activision has stated before that they are not interested in games that cannot be released annually, and Tony Hawk is one of several franchises they are finding to be unacceptable for that particular goal.

I think the Tony Hawk series could be rejuvenated and, indeed, become relevant again, but not on a yearly basis. If a developer takes the time to actually do something new, fresh, or innovative with the series, I definitely think there is potential in the brand. If anything I would say it was Activision's expectations for the franchise to release annually that killed it, not the franchise itself.
