well.... with the legislation pending..... soon I probably won't be selling Mature games unless person has their parents buy.... OR they are 17+.

I am not really disagreeing with the legislation as many kids get & play games they should not.... but I probably am going to have to tighten down on selling games to people that are not of "Age"

The rule could go through soon that will make it illegal to sell mature games to underaged kids.

post up what you think on this.... like I said, I am not necessarily against this rule. If their parents buy it for them... I cannot say anything about it... and since I am an online site, I mostly get adult sales... or have parents buy for their kids anyway ..... so really... nothings changing :lol

But I don't think its cool for places to sell 13year olds..etc.. GTA, and stuff like that.

I wouldn't like this whole law, if it weren't for the fact that I turn 17 on February 4 :D
of course its not cool for people under 17 :lol

but at the same time... there are some things kids shouldn't be able to play.

There probably wouldn't be a law if parents paid attention.

I can't see how they would even begin to enforce such a law. Are they going to have some "agent" at every single checkout lane at every single store selling video games? If not, how are they going to prove anything? What difference does it make if "little Johnny's" momma buys him "Super Murder Killer: Zombie Nazi Prostitutes Revenge" for his birthday?
Besides...isn't this law rather redundant...aren't the ESRB ratings supposed to do just what this law is doing? Yet another powder puff law that is practically impossible to enforce.

its like R movies. There is no one governing it... except some people going around... watching different theatres here and there... and if your caught your fined.

Actually... parents still could buy the games for their kids..... just like parents can buy their kids R movie tickets, and rent those movies.

BUT this would prohibit younger kids from buying them out right.

When I used to go to Best Buy... they wouldn't letme (at 13) buy explicit lyrics CD's.

Ya, when I worked in an electronics dept. we weren't allowed to seel any M rated games to kids under 17. It wasn't the law or anything, but angry parents would let us hear about it if they found out their kid's were playing games they weren't supposed to. Either way, I always sold M rated games to whoever wanted them, which maybe I shouldn't have, but my thinking was that I could always buy any game I wanted when I was 13, 14, etc., so why shouldn't these kids?

I never did get any complaints or anything about it either. Most of the time parents know what their kids are playing and they don't care, or they don't know and don't care. They just assume the kids can buy whatever games they want and are annoyed if they have to come down and by it for them.

Plus, I hated 2 of my 3 supervisors and doing this helped me feel like I was helping the little guy stick it to the man. I don't care if you enforce this BV, because I am 17, but if you don't have to then you shouldn't.

I remember only one time that I needed my bro to buy a game for me (or at least show his driver's license) and that was at Best Buy prolly near the beginning of this year.  Another time at EB Games, I was buying The Getaway for PS2, and he wanted to know my age.

EB Clerk: "You're 18, right?" (sarcastically, actually thinking I'm 18)
Me: "Uh... nope" (sorta worried)
EBC: "Well you're what, 17 then?"
Me: "No, I'm only 15" (even more worried that I wouldn't get the game)
Random guy that overheard conversation: "Yo man, I'll buy the game for this kid if you won't sell it to him"
*Other random people agree they'd do the same, and all start pulling out their wallets*
EBC: "Well, since there's no law that says I can't sell this to you, the total comes to..." (didn't seem angry or upset, actually thought it was funny)

that is pretty funny... I rarely run into minors though because I require you to have a confirmed paypal address (which requires a credit card)... or a credit card.

They could get around the age thing by not stating it to me via money order or Western union wire transfer.

I do not ask for ages now... and I don't plan to, but if / when this legislation goes through... I might have to start asking. :-\

At the local walmart where I live if you buy an R rated moive OR a M rated game the cash register will prompt them with a request for your birthdate, at which point they will card you for ID and then enter the birthdate into the register...and they are very strict too..I get carded every time I buy one..even though I'm 25 and have a full beard ie..I LOOK my age.

Strangly enuff I have never in my life been carded for cigerettes or alcohol..even when I was underage...weird eh?

You do orders online.
You usually take credit card payments, right?

People have to be eighteen to have credit cards, therefore, people placing the orders for your store should hypothetically be over 18.

At least, that's all how I'd assume it would be. So you should have no major worries.

I am 27 so I don't have to worry about buying R rated
movies or M rated games either but my mom helps me
place orders or her boyfriend has Paypal which I pay
either of them so that they use their credit card. I
only have a Visa check card. My cousin is only 15 &
has GTA: San Andreas for his PS2. :lol 8)
