New user: how do I kick a football?

I've been trying to figure out, since I got an old-style Xbox as a gift, hopw the heck I handle certain tasks in sports games. The most frustrating has been kicking a ***** football in games like NCAA Football 2006.

I cannot keep a kickoff inbounds. Field goals are nearly impossible. And I cannot send a punt father than about 20 yards. You're not going to win football games if you can't do that.

Worse, I have yet to find an explanation of how kicking works and how to improve myself at it.

The instruction maual, maybe?

That's what I thought, but it was very little help. I actually did tr to look up kicking and punting, but only saw a few sets of control button commands on page 3. It says to press the A button twice, once towards the top and once towards the bottom. But I've been trying to do that, and I'm still shanking my kicks.

This is going to be really huge pnce I get some golf games, since swing cotnrols in those work essentially the same way. I wish there was a way fro me to just practice kickoffs, punts and placekicking for a little while to get my timing better.

It's not bad controls that you can't kick, you just need to practice.

I entirely agree, and even with that little bit I've managed to improve.

This mechanic is used in all the EA football games, if I recall, including Madden and Arena. It also looks similar to what i9s usually used for a golf swing in most golf games, so practicing it will help in a whole lot of games.

Truth be told, my hand coordination is pretty poor for game controllers in general right now. That's what happens when you start out too old.
