Odd Cadillac find.... Delorean?

Today I was behind a Cadillac... it was an older Cadillac, not sure how old... but it was an older style. It seemed like it was from the early to mid 80's. ANYWAY... there was a tag on the bag that said By Delorean. Is that possible? OK.. it is possible... but I don't remember any Cadillac cars being done by Delorean.

It didn't say DMC... Just by DeLorean.

Anyone know?

I do like the old Delorean cars... They aren't as "cool" as they were back then, but I still thought it was a pretty cool car and all... mostly because they were different.

BV :hat

perhaps the dealership where they bought it is called "Delorean used cars" or some such like that. Delorean could be the name of the owner of the dealership.

By the way one of my uncles used to own a Delorean...before my time so I never saw it. But my dad said it was the talk of the town back in the day :p

Jeepin probably is closer than he thinks, being that when John Delorean split from GM and created DMC, it caused a huge ruckus over at the General.

Back in the 60s, John Delorean made the rounds in GM, heading up the different divisions from one time of another. He is credited for creating the GTO by stuffing a big engine into the Tempest. And had a hand in creating the image for the Firebird and (along with Herb Adams) ushered in the Trans Am.

In the late 70s, our boy Johnny left GM and decided to start his own company. His company built the body while varius European auto manufacturers supplied the drivetrain components. In the end he created a car that was cool looking and innovative but absolutely sucked in the quality department. But his company was gaining in popularity. And Chrysler, GM and Ford didn't like that one bit.

So here's a company that is struggling to gain momentum and is in need of some fast capital. Some "Big Three" execs offer some help, and set up a drug money laundering deal. But they also tip off the feds. And this is how John Delorean landed in teh Gray Bar Inn for a few years.

That's the long way to tell you that the Delorean name and Cadillac only come together if a dealership was named "Delorean." :D
