My Wii died. :'(

It powers on but nothing loads. I called Nintendo about it and they confirmed it is a hardware failure.

Since I have save files and virtual console games that I would like to keep, they gave me the address for an authorized repair center that should be able to fix it without erasing everything. The place is about 60 miles from where I live, so it's not a huge bother. ^_^

But man, that's strike two for next gen launch consoles! My launch day 360 also died when I got it. Next time I'm going to wait until at least the second shipment. XD!

Whoa..that's hardcore evil :( Never in my lifetime have I heard of a Nintendo system failing so shortly after release...been like what...3 months since you have had it?

Yeah I got it on launch day. I don't know what happened actually. It was working fine on Saturday and then on Monday when I turned it on to play it, it wouldn't boot up.

That is insane. Only problem I have run acrossed with mine, is if the remote is not pointing in the right direction at the right time, it wll go un-sync and it'll take me a good while to start it up again, sometimes I have to turn off the system manually, then turn it back on with the Wiimote to reconize it...it's happened only 3 times, but a major annoyance.

They will replace it but then I would lose my VC games and my game saves for Zelda, Excite Truck, Rayman, etc. They referred me to an authorized repair center about 60 miles from where I live. They should be able to fix it without losing anything. I just have to wait until Wednesday because the place is only open Monday-Friday from 8 - 4:30 and that's the first day me or my gf can make it up there.

Yup. The Bluetooth is a little wonky. I wished they would have worked out the kinks a little more.

@Mai: Did you have your system on it's side?

Have you tried deleting that game and re-downloading it? I've heard some cases where that fixes those issues.

No I had it set horizontally. But I will probably keep the new one set up vertically.

Be sure that's away from the ground. I keep all of my game systems elevated in some way. Being on the ground, it collects dust and dirt and can damage the internal parts of the system. I had to fix my PS2 because it was on the ground and dog hair had found its way into the system. So just be sure it's like on a chair or something.

IIRC, doesn't Nintendo keep a record of who bought what games on the VC, so that way you can delete it for more space, and download it again later if you want?

I read somewhere that Nintendo does keep a file of who buys what games for the Virtual Console. So if you loose your saves, you can get them back. But there is a limit in that if your Wii gets stolen, then you're out of luck.
