Ok why didn't he come out and just say it? It was video games. He blaimed Columbine only on violent video games...but in the final report of Columbine they didn't mention games for more than ten seconds, not even saying that they "trained on it" or even it was violent. Just saying they played together. Now I do think that if a kid does go and shoots up his school than he's f***ed up from the beginning!

Video games may set him off but he already was messed up enough. And I knew, I KNEW! they'd blame Counter Strike on the VT shooting just b/c he was duel wielding, I kid you not. This is loads of crap, and people who do stuff then think they're going to get off easy by blaming video games ruin it for all of us. Jack Thompson is a moron video games don't cause violent acts, the brain does! If someone decides to kill someone it was because they were either picked on many times and then kicked around or they have a mental disorder!

People, I have been playing violent video games since I was nine....nine years old! I will be sixteen next month and I have yet to kill someone because of these video games! I thought of killing people, but honestly who hasn't? I like guns, not obsessed with them. It's not video games. People need to take in the fact of warning signs! Columbine had loads! The eassy, the guns, the pipe bombs, the videos! Come one! Playing a violent video game for me is a release, it let's me do stuff I couldn't/wouldn't do in the real life! When I get mad at someone and I want to hurt them [depending on who and the reason] I may fight them or play video games[, or punch my wall haha] But I never thought for a second I'm going to get a 9mm gun and shoot his brains out, I might have thought I'm going to kill him but not anything detailed.

You know the person I serious about killing, when they get detailed! If someone said I'm going to kill that guy they mean beat him up...
If someone says I'm going home and getting my shotgun, and waiting until that f****r is out in public again...that's when you should start worrying.

Jack Thompson is a bloody moron ive been playing violent video games since i was like 7 years old and like Death_By_Pumpkins said ive thort about it but would never actualy go on a shooting rampage.
 
there is a line between playing games, and thinking if they are real. if someone thinks the things in, say GTA are normal, good things, then they are obviously mentally inbalanced, or they were raised wrong. videogames have nothing to do with violence in schools, either metal instability or bad parenting does >:(

Seriously though, I think we need Jack Thompson. Because it gets us gamers off our butts and unite as a political force. I have been gaming for a little over 20 years now. I have the means to get involved with any political dispute. After all, polititians fear me, for I am a Christian NASCAR lovin' conservative dad. Well, at least they feared me during the last elections. ::)
 
Besides guys it's better to have someone like Jack Thompson who is clearly a couple of cans short of six pack with conspiracy theories about the Floridia bar being out to get him, ranting and raving to the public about evil's of video games than say some house wife turned activist who might actauly be able to act like sane person.

Yep. And anything more than criticism that gamers give him and you have a bonafide martyr on your hands. And that would be bad to have mindless people rallying around him.

I'm sure he is a self proclaimed martyr pretty much all Christian activist are in this country they run into one preson who disagrees with them and start screaming prescution keep in mind I'm Christian which is I take offense and am concerned by how many christians or people at least claiming to be Christian abuse the terms martyr and prescution.

Also, where did the religious aspect of that come from? I didn't even know he was a Christian and let alone, should it matter on his decision? I really don't think it does. If he was Bapist/Christian/Jewish/Athiest..his ideals would still be the exact same, because it's his job to get paid for protesting. The funding of a Senator has to come from an organization that has to support his theories.

The Spanish Inquisitors thought they were doing God's will when they killed thousands of people for minor offenses. And the Crusaders thought so too. Jack Thompson is obviously working his own agenda. He is no different than Macarthy's anti-Communism stance in the 50s.

Also, I used the term "martyr" in it's strictest definition. In that if he goes down fighting this obsurd battle, then some other idiot will take his place and use Jack Thompson's condition as a rallying point.

If your one issue person then yes but I know several people that aside from there belief in gun control and need for elimantion of voilence in video games fall exactly into the conserative mold.

That right there is where I disagree with you your assuming that he is doing this for money I think what were dealing with here is a crazy person who actaully thinks he is doing what thinks God wants him too if he didn't and it was for money I doubt that he would have pulled as many stunts in court accumlating numerous contempt of court fines and getting himself disbarred.
 
He is doing it for the money. He's an attorney hired to do this.

Also, I still feel he is more of a liberal than a conseritive simply because his track history is nothing but protesting against almost every business, company, etc.

As far as I know, he is still an active Attorney and has not been disbarred, since on February 21, 2007, Thompson filed a complaint with the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission against Judge Larry Seidlin, accusing Seidlin of "violating nearly every judicial canon" in conducting a hearing on the disposition of the body of Anna Nicole Smith. Anyways, regardless of what you tell me. This "Christian" guy is doing this for money by far.

MegaDrive one could also agrue that his solely reason for seeking monetary damages form these companies isn't for wealth but to hurt these companies that he feels are wronging society.But I do agree that we aren't going to agree on this guys motivation. But it doesn't really matter in the bigger picture because the fact is regardless of what his motivation is he is very far out there and is going to be a thorn in the side of both gaming industry and gamers for the forseeable future.
