If only L.A.I.R didn't suck
so I got my new gaming PC a few days back and things were working ok, but now sometimes the computer reboots for no apparent reason, when I sent the error report to microsoft they said it was an error caused by a device driver but I don't know what to do about it

what graphics card do you have? size... company..etc.

I had the same problem, and it was my graphics card. For some reason, I had to turn off the fast write... and it worked. Some other people I knew had the same problem and they clued me in, thankfully.

Is the problem still happening dray? All I can tell you at this point is to download all the current drivers for your devices. Hopefully this will be an easy fix!

I finally got tech support on the phone today and they said that all my problems may stem from faulty RAM and they want me take one of the RAM sticks out....so how do I do that?
and if my RAM is in dual channel mode would taking one out mess up the computer?

If you want to get more information about the error yourself you could disable the automatic reboot after failure so you can see the blue screen that shows up, and you should be able to find more yourself.

For the RAM you could try downloading a program called memtest86 and use it on a boot disk, that will check your ram for problems when you boot with it.

To get out Ram you just have to open up the chassis and pull it out, that's it. I would try taking one stick out and than run it for a while to see if the problem still happens. If so, than replace the stick that is causing issues. The RAM included with your pc is not the greatest so you should plan to upgrade it anyways. I figured it would at least get you by until you could afford an upgrade, but unfortuneatly it's giving you problems already. Let me know what happens so we can get this fixed asap.

dual channel ram is two ram sticks running in parallel. you can take one out and run in single channel mode. your performance would take a hit, but it would be interestig to see if it was just one of the sticks going bad.

How much/what kind of RAM are you using? X2 is right about the factory RAM being below-average, I'd suggest getting something from Corsair, I bought mine from there and I haven't had any problems.

well my RAM situation is finally resolved, I bought a new 512 stick and put it in today

Glad to hear it Dray, hopefully all will be well now! Remember you can always pm me if you run into hardware troubles :)
